Week 16 of building Talanoa in public — and this one was all about pain, packaging, and platform chaos.
I finally decided to make the app available on Windows and Linux.
It should have been simple. Electron is “write once, run anywhere,” right?
Instead, I spent the week:
Migrating my Mac builds to GitHub Actions
Recompiling native modules
Debugging broken Linux builds on ARM VMs
Failing to test properly on Windows
…then buying a Windows laptop (my first in 20 years 😅)
Realizing I need to pay just to sign a Windows app
It was messy. But it’s progress.
✅ Outlook integration ✅ Multi-platform rollout (almost) ✅ Still as motivated as ever
