Electron said "cross-platform" Here’s what actually happened.

Week 16 of building Talanoa in public — and this one was all about pain, packaging, and platform chaos.

I finally decided to make the app available on Windows and Linux.

It should have been simple. Electron is “write once, run anywhere,” right?

Instead, I spent the week:

  • Migrating my Mac builds to GitHub Actions

  • Recompiling native modules

  • Debugging broken Linux builds on ARM VMs

  • Failing to test properly on Windows

  • …then buying a Windows laptop (my first in 20 years 😅)

  • Realizing I need to pay just to sign a Windows app

It was messy. But it’s progress.

✅ Outlook integration ✅ Multi-platform rollout (almost) ✅ Still as motivated as ever
