ELI5: Why and how is ProductHunt important?
I am outing myself here. I have never used ProductHunt before. I keep hearing about it, articles written on how to successfully launch a product there, how to get influencers on board, etc.
In the end, isn't the website just a reach multiplier to get your product seen by more people, but depending on the product you may not even reach your target audience?
Who uses ProductHunt? Why? And why is it important to launch there?
If Product Hunt audience matches your own it can be amazing, it boosts your google ranking.
It also drives awareness. If you rank well you can use that as social proof.
Yeah, I was wondering the same, especially considering that more than likely most people interested in producthunt will not be interested in my product. It's just a different target audience.
I would think reddit and specific facebook groups would be much more valuable.
Basically it would help you overcome the cold start of your company.
Getting initial customers is vital for good start.
Or you may draw attention to some investor, potential CTO or similar to help you scale.
