Hi there fellow hacker
I recently started on the "version 2.0" of a local website https://www.igroups.io. It's a private group system, used by sport clubs, small business etc. to collaborate among members, without the need to be part of facebook, linkedin etc. Privacy is a priority.
I have an email address on all users, and whenever something happens in a group (uploading a file, blogpost etc), I send an email to the users of the group. But I experience that the "feedback" is rather disappointing in users reaction to that message.
I'm primarily a developer, so I have off cause started to make sure all mails are delivered without errors (we use sendgrid.com).
Out of 585 messages sent to a group, these are the stats:
Recieved: 100%
Opened: 40% of the 585 sent
Clicked: 15% of the 234 opened
Could this be done better or? What is your experience? What to do, when only "connection" the your users is email?
Cheers in advance,
Kent
Those numbers are well above average. I've seen many clients use 15% open rate as a solid baseline, which seems about right.
Hi, Kent. Like others said, those are great numbers. I recently aggregated some of my email newsletter stats for a month that had 30 campaigns with 1.5 million sends. The list size ranged from 50k to 100k over that time frame.
My average open rate was 35% and the average click rate was 5%. So your campaign would have been the best email I sent for that month. That looks like a great connection to your subscribers via email.
You can see more numbers from my campaigns here:
"What I learned about email subject lines from sending 1,547,413 emails in one month" https://www.strikestack.com/growth-hacking/best-email-subject-lines-good-tips-lessons-learned
As others have stated, those are great numbers! II work in email marketing and that would be an amazing result for a marketing campaign, no matter the industry.
Although, service messaging is a little different and you'll usually get higher engagement. But it's not necessarily a given. Work has to be put in and it sounds like you have done just that.
Unfortunately, email's reputation has been sullied by the increase in use by companies ramping up automation and smaller businesses finally waking up to the power of this service. Because of that influx in volume over the last few years, most people will attribute an email as pure marketing or they will simply not check their emails that often and it may actually be a case that there is a delay in engagement.
Things to check that may make your emails stand out:
... Just a few notes. Although it's only servicing, some of the above can still be implemented to ensure you are recognised and you stand out from the fluff.
These aren't bad numbers. I would say they are above the average.
