I have been trying different open mail tracker extension/apps for quite some time. Almost all of them including the most popular https://mailtrack.io/ asks permission to read all my mails. Am a bit worried about giving my complete access to my emails to these trackers. To fix this I went ahead and built a tracker for myself which doesn't need any auth. My question is do you think there is a need for this app?
I don't know the answer if it is needed or not, but can give you a framework to think about it.
Who are the people who are using mail trackers? Is it the sales people or people applying for jobs or people exchanging sensitive information on email. (As a starting point think about why you use mail tracker and try to put a segment around it )
Is privacy a pain point for this segment? For example if sales organizations use mail trackers then using an external system might not be allowed in their organization, as example grammarly is not allowed in many organizations. Talking to people from this segment might help you understand if this is a actual pain point or something good to have?
Finally if it is a pain point fora particular segment then what are the switching costs to a new system? Would you need other features as well to actually make them switch or is this pain point so big that they can switch bro your MVP in a blink.
I hope this helps.
Thanks @romram for your points. Will definitely work on those.
