En-route to £250k this year

To build a startup like an Uber or Slack is very hard for most and you need incredible market insight to build a business like that (which I don't have).

As I was out of innovative concepts to try I decided to stick to what I know, I've worked as a management consultant and helped clients build and implement tech. I started my own firm a year ago and it was a little rough, 0 clients, 0 client contacts and 0 money.

After harassing people on LinkedIn I finally came across a guy that was willing to give me a chance. It took a lot of negotiating and convincing others in his organisation but we finally got a project agreed. More importantly, I let the client tell us what problem we should solve instead of attempting to solve it myself with my limited market insight.

I now have a contract in place to build a cool new tool over 6 months for £250k as a pilot, with a team of contractors my partner and I employ. They have already spoken to us about doing more work after the initial 6 months, which is very exciting.

Conclusion:
Proven industries and business models still have lots of opportunities for people to break into and build businesses in.
