"Entrepreneurship is for two types of people: People who have nothing to lose, and people who have everything to lose but want more. For me, I need to be in that second category. I can't be in the category where I'm an immigrant who doesn't have anything, because I remember what that was. I remember very distinctly what it was like to be fucking filthy poor. I raised myself because my parents were both working three jobs. Man, it was brutal. So, I have a normal career as an ER doc and I'm an entrepreneur. I want it all so, screw it, I'm going to be the guy who does both. Because I have the talent and the knowhow and the skill and the work ethic and the loving family and the health, so why wouldn't I? I want to squeeze as much juice out of this orange as I can. And that's what I do."
I get that this is supposed to be motivational, but it comes off as inaccurate and exclusionary.
Entrepreneurship is for everyone. Some people are in love with a specific problem, some people like hard puzzles, some people hate having a boss. Suggesting that entrepreneurship is only for "people who have nothing to lose and people who have everything to lose but want more" ignores the diversity of interests and experience that make the entrepreneurial community so vibrant.

I get the attempt to prop up entrepreneurial diversity but "people who have everything to lose but want more" is vague enough that it could include all the examples you wrote down.
I guess we are all just talking to say how proud we are of the choices we made. That might what entrepreneurship is at the end of the day: Being able to look back at your life and be proud of having lived the life you chose for yourself.
