Every financing model has strengths and limitations. Venture capital is no exception.

It's an excellent fit for businesses pursuing large, fast-moving markets where significant capital can accelerate growth. For companies with different economics or objectives, other funding models may create better long-term outcomes. The key is choosing the financing strategy that aligns with the business rather than assuming one model fits every company.

The good news about venture capital in 2020 is that anyone can start a fund, syndicate, scout, advisor, or angel investing group at any time--and they are!

When I get into the game in the 90s there was not path to becoming a VC other than having a frat brother at a VC firm or having gone to HBS or Stanford.

I was a nobody in the industry and started my own event called "Open Angel Forum" and then got the gig as a Sequoia Scout. Now ever venture firm seems to have a scout program.

That's interesting. I didn't realize even VCs were being disrupted by this democratization-of-everything that is going on. Thanks for sharing!

Indie bootstrapping is the thing this decade. Out with the big funded companies.

Watering hole too crowded, now seeking puddles.
