Ever gave a website as a gift?
Like the title says - has anyone ever given a website as a gift?
I had an idea to make a small cute website for my girlfriend's birthday and she ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT. Got me thinking that there's a business opportunity somewhere there (yea I'm super romantic).
Did a quick search but haven't found a good service that provides something like this. Maybe there's a reason for that.
Anyways, anyone do something similar or no of anyone who did something like this?
I have. I bought a domain for my brother and put some light content up on it. I like the idea.
It was personally very fun for me.
Hooked up some music she liked with soundcloud and tried out the new neumorphism look for the first time.
She loved it :)
Haven't seen a credible example yet. Interesting idea.
I'm guessing the website as a love letter to the person just for making his or her day can work and getting started with a few templates won't be hard. But charging more will be a challenge.
But if it's a personal site with more lifetime, most probably after the gifting the recepient will want the site to reflect his or her "personality" and a ton of change requests (or even an overall revamp) might follow.

This was mostly just a passing thought :)
The idea reminds me of a problem the cake batter industry had a while ago where they actually made more sales including more steps (and thus making it more difficult = significant) since cakes resembles a moment of time for celebration. Feel this will need to juggle that problem if it wants to take off!
That's an interesting insight! On the other hand, few things are as frustrating as a handyman who fixes the issue in 2 minutes and walks away with your hard-earned money :)
