"Every time something was wrong in my life, I would just throw myself into my work. I didn't realize I was just avoiding it all. The world perceives 'hard work' as ambitious. So no one was telling me that I was doing anything wrong. No one was telling me, 'You're not tackling how you feel, you're not tackling the insecurities that are coming up.' None of that. It was like, 'Hey, this guy's really ambitious. Oh, look, he's answering emails at 12:00 at night, he's really hard-working.' Some people turn to alcohol, others to drugs. I was addicted to my work. And there was no negative connotation to it."
