Everyone always talks about FB Groups, Discord, even Circle --- BUT why not a Subreddit? (serious question)

I hear lots of Indie Hackers talk about starting a Facebook Community. Occasionally, "Circle" and "Discord" are listed as great community options. But I rarely hear people recommend starting a Subreddit. Why is that?
