Hello everyone,
@zerotousers a while back mentioned in a comment that he would love to know more about what it takes to sell on the AWS Marketplace, and he did encourage me to share my experience here with everyone, since more people could be interested in this topic.
I think a good start would be to check out my interview with Corry on his Screaming in the Cloud show:
We had a nice discussion on the AWS marketplace where I shared the good and the bad. For sure it is impossible to get to know everything within 30 min. For this reason I’m open to any question you might have - I’d be happy to answer them all.
Best.
Very interesting as I'm in the process of making my first side business and the idea is to sell it on AWS Marketplace!
When I started to look into it like a year ago I couldn't find much about indie hackers on AWS Marketplace so this is all very good info! Sad to hear that the search bar no longer gives exposure to the listings...
It is sad, and I can add that in the past year, I did spend $60K to do marketing: two newsletters, LinkedIn ads, and Google ads. The effect equaled zero. And for this reason, I did stop investing in the product. I will still maintain them, add features, and treat this as a hobby since I have my user base acquired from the search bar.
My recommendation to you would be to find a salesperson with contacts with companies that might be interested in your ideas. Otherwise, it would be a complete waste of your time.
@zerotousers it took me a moment to share something about the marketplace, but I was waiting for this episode to go public. I hope you'll find this chat interesting 🤓.
