Hey devs,
I'm looking to put a CDN in front of my web service and looking at Cloudflare as the first option.
Anyone have experience with Cloudflare? Recommend another CDN or alternative?
The pricing looks pretty friendly for getting started.
Thanks!
I am using the free tier for pretty much all my web sites. But in front of a web service?
Do you really have so many (public) web service responses that make sense to cache them like that? Usually that's covered by the API client and using proper etag support.
Cool, thanks!
Sorry, I should be more clear about what the "web service" does—it's a server-rendered app, some pages don't change frequently. It's handling GET/POST/DEL etc request. Also, it's serving static assets, which can be cached forever basically.
So, I mostly just want a CDN to handle the static pages + static assets.
If the routes are easy to split you can have the static pages/assets be handled by the CDN and then have API be passed trough. That can be configured with CloudFlare. Another option could be to have your API endpoints at a different sub domain to be more flexible in that regard.
Cloudflare should be good starting point if you have no special requierments
Fastly, AWS Floudflare are also common
