There is a lot of anxiety for me at least when it comes to growth. I've got growth goals (next one is 400 subscribers and I was at 230 last time I checked). My audience is relatively fragmented too so posting to reddit and facebook groups hasn't really helped, but LinkedIn and Twitter are useful.
One thing that I have been obsessing over is subscriber growth, total reads, and open rates. I'm using Substack right now (might migrate eventually), but I disabled all notifications on 24 hour stats, new subscriber notifications, and unsubscribes.
I find myself with a lot more clarity in just the past few days and less anxiety. Need to focus more on producing really great content and building my current incoming funnels of LinkedIn and Twitter.
One thing I noticed too was whenever I interview people and publish the interviews to the newsletters those people are super interested in sharing on social media. I am trying to do more of this, but in a useful and thoughtful way that is less just pushing some free marketing for someone talking their own product and more framing it within the context of my opinion and what I see as the broader contexts of society/markets.
Has anyone else stopped paying close attention to statistics?
