Experimenting with revenue models during a Product Hunt Launch

https://www.producthunt.com/posts/strikefree-music

I was wondering what you guys think of this:

Yesterday I launched Strikefree Music on Product Hunt[1]. Initially I offered the service for $8.99/month. Got to #2 product of the day but not a single person bought the product. I realized I had 3 hours left in the day and thought why not experiment with the traffic coming in.

I tried a few things, 1 stood out: free but pay $1 for expenses. As soon as I put that up I got my first 9 customers before the PH launch day ended.

I'm now wondering. Am I being fair to myself and the product? The idea is the $1 qualifies potential buyers. I'm planning to build a simple editor people can use to tweak and add to auto generated beats, then sell them for premium prices to the crowd that already qualified itself as buyers. I'd take a commission.

Let me know if you have any thoughts or ideas on this!
