Explaining SaaS to Non-Techies

Software as a Service - What it Means for Non-Techies

Customers sometimes ask what is SaaS, or Software as a Service? I learned the true meaning when I turned on the water in the sink at my office building - and only air came out.

I've been building and selling SaaS for employers and businesses across the USA for more than 10 years. My customers used the software already running on our servers, instead of getting a piece of software on a CD or download file.

But here's what is really happening. A great SaaS product means you're taking the complexity of understanding and solving a problem off of the customer.

It's just like the water utility. They have to maintain a network of hundreds of miles of water mains hidden under our streets and sidewalks. They have to pump water from deep underground, treat it to kill germs, and route it all the way to your building.

Our job in SaaS is to take all that complexity off the customer.

At ContactLink, a customer at your website can just video call you - without even knowing their browser could do that. You can answer the call using the App in your pocket, or even call them back - right back to their browser at your website.

If we do our job right - you never need to know where the pipes are buried or how the back end works. Your customers don't need any training or prior knowledge to use it. That's what SaaS is about.

How are you using SaaS to take complexity away from your customers?
