ExplainMyProduct: Honest, unbiased feedback on your product website.
Hey gang!
So, late last year, a site launched on Indiehackers called ExplainMyProduct.com by Yash Ambardekar
The site got some fantastic feedback itself, as well as a few early sales. It was put up for sale at 1kprojects, where I purchased the business directly from Yash.
Yash and I made a few light architectural changes, some new branding/design, and now I am soft re-launching the site once again. I'm new to the community here, and as you can probably imagine, I would love YOUR opinion.

I just tried submitting my site, but the "Next" button doesn't do anything. Not seeing any errors or network requests in my dev tools.

Ah okay, yeah wasn't clear at all to me, as the button didn't look disabled. Maybe pop up a message saying you need to review another site first.
I'd love to see 1) examples of other people and their sites who have used Explain My Product; 2) the kind of feedback they received; and 3) if possible, their impressions of how helpful the feedback was.
I think the above provides a critical proof point for buyers before they buy.

It just dawned on me that your last comment is feedback on a site designed to solicit feedback, given on yet another site that solicits feedback about sites. So meta it makes my head spin! Hah! :)
But I digress. Agreed. I need to up the testimonials game once I get more paying customers.

Great question. There are a few differences between the feedback you get from trusted public forums, and the feedback you get privately/anonymously.
I think the value with ExplainMyProduct lies in the anonymity.
Why is anonymity important? Because removes bias and helps reveal the truth.
As much fun as it is to get patted on the back for a job well done from a like-minded community, founders ultimately crave & value honesty. Anonymous reviews ensure this. The reviewer has no incentive to sugarcoat the truth, no reason to lie.
Now don't get me wrong - there are plenty of downsides to anonymous content. (Heck, look at the discourse on Twitter compared to Reddit or Indiehackers!) BUT, I think if you can control the supply (which I am doing through hiring trusted content reviewers) you can ensure the high quality, helpful, anonymous nature of each & every review.

Excellent. Sugar-coating serves nobody!
There's additional value in being able to order up feedback like you're ordering a cheeseburger. If you post in IndieHackers you will get excellent feedback from a fantastic community, but you might not receive feedback from enough people. And if you post the same thing over & over again, it will likely annoy everyone.
I think ExplainMyProduct can be thought of as a nice addition to your existing feedback collection process.

Right - and frankly I hope you don't need 50 opinions in the next hour, because I can't fulfill anywhere close to that yet! :)

Thanks, yeah I definitely need a better icon. I put together a quick one the other day. It looked good when I went to bed. But when I looked at it again the next morning I wanted to puke :)

Yeah you ain't kidding, it's already happened. I also need to prevent reviewers from using curse words in their feedback. Ah, the joys of content moderation!
