Exploring niche market monetization ideas
Where I am at — I have a website where I publish content to a niche market. The organic reach is growing steadily and I am seeing average 10 % CTR in search console which is very high compared to my other websites. My highest keyword has 34% CTR and ranks #3. About 6 months into this and all of this appears to be working and I am happy with this progress so far.
The setup of all this is such that it I as content creator am in one country (USA); and the audience is in another country in Europe. The people interested in the content have specific interests: "how to do thing X in the US". Currently my most popular content is about education and the differences between the two systems, but it is still early.
Also worth noting that there are specific subcategories in this niche e.g. students (planning to attend universities); travelers (planning a road trip); future immigrants; and people who are just curious. Each of these groups have different motivations for accessing the content.
My Challenge — I am trying to think of ways to monetize this audience. Cost of shipping and customs duties mean it is not practical to sell physical products (which is a shame because that would have been so easy!). This leaves me with services and digital products. Not a fan of ads and don't think I have the numbers for that anyway. I am already looking up social media groups in hopes of identifying recurring needs in this target audience. I am also thinking back to the time when I didn't live in the US and what would have helped me then.
I am looking for ideas and suggestions especially if you have ever run anything even remotely similar. What was your monetization strategy?
My immediate instinct is you could package your content as an ebook. It doesn't have to be 100+ pages long – I've paid for short ebooks that simply combine info scattered across a website into a single downloadable that I can read in iBooks, Kindle, much more comfortably. In any case, the cost of giving it a try should be very low if you use something like Gumroad.
If that's successful, then try offering alternative formats at different price points, e.g. small ebook $5, ebook + PDF templates $9, ebook + PDF templates + video $39.
Perhaps higher for the full package, as there will always be some buyers who just want everything and for whom price is not an issue.

Did you consider related affiliate programs? Just add some referral links and get a split when a visitor purchases something.
I will look into this, great idea! Maybe some European provider that will lower the barrier to making purchases.
The easiest way for you is to partner with any business that provides value to your clients and split revenue, or, find digital products that can be white-labeled and sell them on your own.
You can always create your own digital product but that might take longer to release.
Right answer really depends on your "timing" and "goals". Are you interested in developing an automated sales machine or something that needs your moderation for every transaction?

I don't mind creating my own digital products. I'm a developer and totally open to building. My timing is "can take a while" and goals is realistically small revenue. 4 digit MRR would be perfectly sufficient as a long-term goal. I realize this is a very finite niche.
