Extremely low conversion rate

For May, our website had a conversion rate of 2%, which is pretty low for B2C Apps, wherein all the user has to do is enter their email.

I had 100 users in May, out of which only 2 dropped their email.

Nearing launch, this is scaring me as to how I will get initial users.

I would really appreciate some honest criticism/ feedback on our website https://www.joinrealtalk.co
I really really want to know what isn't working for the users.

Thanks!!

With only 100 users, you don't have enough data to make that conversion rate statistically significant. If you can, I'd suggest spending $500 or so on Google Ads to ramp up traffic and see if that trend continues. Around 1,000+ users are where trends start to establish, some will argue 10,000 but who has that luxury in indie projects.

Hmm makes sense. Will definitely try that out.

Love the idea. What if you put the email signup directly in the hero section instead of making them click "Get access"?

    1. 1

I did try that up before. No benefit.

      1. 2

How many monthly visitors do you have?

          1. 2

Getting 2 out of only a 100 isn't that bad many would get 0, so it has some interest and you have a good focus of who you attract

    Page looks good, good job!

What would make me hesitate to subscribe is knowing if there are anybody at all on the social network. So many of these things are just empty, it's not worth the hassle.

So maybe countering that objection could help.

Makes a lot of sense. I got what you mean. I'll definitely do something about it.

The path to sign up should be simplified as several comments already suggested.

The example picture you provide includes a button for following, but you make the point that there will be no followers. This is confusing.

I think a lot of the page is used to describe the problem, but the solution offered is not clear. Anonymous communication may scare some people away. I remember YikYak was not a pleasant experience.

So, what I mean by no followers is, that you cannot see how many people others follow, or who follows them, or even who follows you.

By describing the problem and not solution, could you elaborate a bit? I feel it is a bit unclear to me.

        Oh I see.

I guess the site did not show me what features I'll have in the app.

I agree that this small sample is probably not enough to be able to see trends just yet, BUT I would also say that it's not immediately clear why someone would want to use this page.

Think about the particular pain point you're trying to solve and then present your headline as a solution rather than talking about features. At the moment, it sounds a bit like it's a therapy app?

What has your process of user testing and validation been? Are there any insights based on that you could use for messaging?

I liked you landing is really pretty, I like it, it is clear and colorful.
I would remove the fading transitions between pages.
I didn't like the stock photos on the stories... but I don't have any suggestion for that.

    Good job!

I'd need a lot more information here to give any suggestions. Where is this traffic coming from?

I think your copywriting could be improved. And remove the ellipses at the end of your headers.

Finally, try putting the email box itself right on the page, rather than hiding it behind a button.

Tbh, I am unable to track where they are coming from, for most of the visitors. Something that I need to work on through UTM.

I will definitely work on the copywriting, and the email box.

find the peer support you need

Sounds very judgemental, could be off-putting
Maybe want/desire/deserve, or that will help you
    ..

Or just make this the title

express your feelings & talk over DM with peers that understand your pain.

Like "safe space" the term already cuts the crowd in half, it's super contentious

It might be good to do purposely, but I fell like here it's for the wrong reason/careless use

        1. 1

I'm not sure you should talk about what it doesn't have, you should find positive/constructive way to say the same

Also you got one of the biggest challenges of "social network", no one wants to use it untill others do.. it has no value of itself...
I think avoiding that label could also be useful

          1. 1

I think removing Social Media part could be a good move

          1. 2

Like using "safe space" could be a good marketing for like the LGBTQ+ and other people that consider themselves outsiders of the main group (as reverse from social networks)

That could be used as Nich target to start from
            If used as a strategy/tactic

This is what I mean by using it for a specific reason

            1. 1

I don't think replying to your own comment four times is the best idea.

The get it on the app store button is a lie/failure of trust not worthy putting an email in, better have a truthful CTA IMHO

    1. 1

Hey, could you explain what you mean by the putting an email in is not truthful?

      1. 3

"get in on the app store" button that doesn't link me to the app store to me feeling like a lie and you would lose some of my trust for it (not sure how many feel the same about it or not)

Rather you just tell me "get an early access invite" straight off without the popup

        1. 1

Got it. Makes sense. Thank You
