Facebook is reportedly building a newsletter tool for indie writers

Interesting. I may be wrong. But I sort of imagine that it will be a horrible, overcomplicated privacy nightmare...

Everyone is getting into the newsletter game!

So, does anyone else see an opportunity for a community similar to indiehackers that’s specifically for writers? indiewriters.com is parked, but that lead me to indieletters.com, which may appreciate some traffic-love.

An indie writer community seems like a no-brainer to me, 852 members in this group, but it’s not in my lane. If anyone decides to run with it, or if it’s already done, i’d love to know. 🙂

I've disanced myself from Facebook. It has turned into a complex ecosystem that demands my attention. I deleted it from my phone and occasionally check it on my desktop like an old email.

This makes me feel like we are near peak newsletters again. My inbox is clogged with weeklies that I can't keep up with anymore.

An acquisition would have made more sense to me as it gets them to the market the fastest. It's Facebook though, they'll get the subscribers.

As someone had mentioned in another thread: the issue is not in the distribution but in regularly producing high quality content. Solve that and you're golden!

And there is Justin @buttondown who is competing with all these giants and still winning
