I’m just going to throw this out there. And I know I’m tiny scale compared to most of you.
My ads aren’t converting. Which leads me to believe it’s either 1) the landing page, 2) my product itself, or 3) the offer.
My landing page is here: https://paintedreality.io/koi-fish/ - pretty simple layout.
my products are my artwork. Luxury item rather then a “solves problems” item — although, sometimes it solves a “what gift should I get for...” type problem.
My offer is usually the price as-is, with free shipping inside the U.S.

After a few days of ad spend, I’ve gotten about 100 people to click through to my page. I know that’s not many, but I would have hoped for at least one conversion.
I don’t have much experience selling. Do you see glaring problems with my landing pages?
Should I always have a special offer?
Or perhaps the audience wasn’t right? (But why would they click the ad then?)
Thank you so much in advance. I feel like I’ve been studying my ass off and I’m failing the test still. lol

Hey @Chaddeus - first up, don't be disheartened, no conversions after 100 visitors is actually very normal, particularly for a more niche product.
I do have some comments on the copy, which I think is probably having quite a substantial impact on your conversions.
The first text I see on the page is totally not action or benefit focused. It's a statement, and it's probably the only thing that most of your 100 visitors took the time to see. You should work on refining this headline and subheading copy to articulate much more clearly why people should care about what it is that you're offering. You're not just selling artwork, you're selling the opportunity to own something that evokes feeling in the spaces that people hang this artwork in. Make that clear.
Similarly, you want to make sure you have a CTA within the first section that your visitors see, pre-scroll.
I'd be really interested to see your ad copy too to see if this is optimized for conversions/click throughs.
If you'd like a hand refining your copy to optimize your investment on ad spend, drop me a line at dani@scribly.io - we have low cost packages for startups and small businesses to get you set up with conversion-focused copy for projects just like this :)
Hi Dani, thank you for the great feedback. I apologize for the delay in responding. I took a break from my computer/office for a couple of days to cool off after some brutal Reddit feedback/criticism. ;)
I have been evolving that copy and I wasn't quite happy with it -- I wasn't sure why. I think you're right and that may be the sneaking suspicion I've had.
I will work to make it more benefit/action focused. Not sure how I'll do that just yet -- I'm not really in state of mind to focus on it just yet. I really appreciate you took the time to respond. Thank you.
I checkout out your service page too. Looks pretty cool (love how it kind of looks like Stripe). I don't really have much $$ to spare at this time... maybe I'm trapped in a bit of a "chicken before the egg" situation -- because if I did have some amount of success, a bit of revenue, I feel I'd definitely be interested in your services.
Thanks again.
Hey @Chaddeus - don't take the negative criticism (whatever it was) to heart 😊 The internet can be so brutal sometimes, be selective in what you take on board as it's not helpful most of the time!
No problem at all, if there's anything I can do to help just shout
Thank you!
I made some changes. Not great, but better? 😉
My 2 cents at first sight:
Thank you for taking the time to write up all this great feedback.
Slideshow... hmm... this page is specifically the page for this art. But I do like the idea of having a page that is a slideshow.
My gallery page is https://paintedreality.io/gallery/ — where one would land for viewing multiple pieces.
I’ll also mention more specifically this artwork is only available here.
I do have an about us page, and I literally just posted about our process today: https://paintedreality.io/our-creation-process/
Thanks again for the great feedback. I’ll be making some changes based don it.
To piggy back off @Vokail, could you add something like the couch example to the landing page with a 'slideshow' that swaps in different pieces? It's just not immediately clear that I'm supposed to be buying art to hang up/decorate.
Also I see you have your Tokyo Spark blog, have you tried directing people from there? Don't see anything specific there about Painted Reality, just the Tokyo Spark specific art but I may have missed it!
Good luck!
I like it. Or, at least an arrow that when clicked will load to the next piece.
I just recently finished up a few pieces of art based on Japan. I will be "advertising" them on TokyoSpark, yes -- good eye.
I'm focusing on growing traffic to it for now.
Thanks!
you are welcome!
I made a few tweaks. https://paintedreality.io/koi-fish/
Do you find this easier?
1 - I started adding a subtitle under the artwork name
2 - I added the word "Artwork" after the artwork name
3 - I rounded the buttons and added some depth to make them appear more click-able.
4 - I added a "what you get" section which also leads to the "our process and tools" page
5 - I removed the testimonials
6 - I lowered the price of the digital version by $20.
7 - General text tweaks throughout
Hopefully it's a step in the right direction in your opinion.
Thanks!
in order, always IMHO:
In general yes, now is more concise, could be more personal with real photos and highlight that display little details of your work.
On seo side (huge topic, I know) I've used in the past free tools like https://www.seotesteronline.com/ to do some quick assestments.
A free test display your site lack of some basic info like:
Another free ideas: be inspired by competition. How they sell ? How ? What are differences?
One pick from google: https://www.posters.eu/
Who is your target audience?
Anyone buying art? Or posters? 😊
I targeted interests of people I think may be interested in appearance.
Things like Chanel, Zara Home, Home Decor, Better Homes & Garden, etc + “engaged shoppers”
I can certainly do more testing there. Just wanted to double check my landing page first.
That's the point I was getting at. Who buys art? Who buys your style of art? Have you had success selling it in any other way? If so what do you know about those customers? can you target that smaller niche somehow?
Landing page thoughts: its not obvious I'm at an art shop or a social media-esc site for sharing art. Though I haven't ever purchased art really, so take that with a grain of salt. Maybe a corner ribbon with a price tag would help? Do you have any analytics tied up within the site? Are people clicking on images in order to even see the buttons for buying?
Product page--I don't think "Click Below to Buy Now" statement is necessary. Buttons are intuitive and obvious (which is a good thing imo).
All fantastic points.
I can get sales when talking to people one on one about it. :)
I have Google Analytics, I’ll dig in to see if I can learn some more from it.
The “Click Below to Buy Now” was a year, as some said they felt they didn’t know those were buy buttons. :)
But I’ve also made some style changes to the buttons to make them more intuitive — which you confirmed is working. :)
I’ll try to make it look more art shop-like. Originally I was trying to be different. But maybe that’s working against me here.
Thanks!
When talking to people one on one are you in person? Did they walk into your store?
In person, then they order from my iPad, or their own phone. :)
The Landing page and the website looks nice and simple to me. But it was not clear what I was buying and what I would use it for.
The pictures indicate you would use this for decorating your home. But that is still several steps away from buying the digital copy. Have you looked at how you can simplify that ? May be partner with poster printing sites, and providing a link ? Such sites could link back to you for providing business.
Another option might be to market your art using Instagram or Snapchat or similar sites. Pick communities that are focused on art or has interest in home decoration (ex. Houzz).
I'd suggest putting a bit more info in regards to the digital printing option on the landing page. I think that might be your calling card, and I had to navigate to the pricing pages before I found out that you don't receive a digital version along with a printed copy (which should also be a purchasing option!)
I'm not a designer, but the landing page looks fine to me. And the artwork itself looks awesome! I think that many (well, most, actually) people click an ad just to have a quick look. Most will probably like the art, but the step to buying is big for the casual browser. I think that in general a conversion of 0.1% is more realistic than 1%.
I'm also not a marketeer, but I can imagine that (the idea of) a special offer can help people draw their wallet.
Thanks for the feedback. I’ll try to emphasize this is the only place you can get this, and also the price is great. :)
