Fair price for this website...
Hey guys, hope all is well.
I created a website for a friend of mine who is doing well with his business, https://www.phase3interiors.com He asked me to send him an invoice, but I wanted to see what would someone charge for a website like this. I put a lot of effort to make it work flawlessly on mobile as well as on web. Also I am in NY so perhaps some local people might have more accurate estimation.
I am also new to this website, so I hope I am asking this question, in the right place.

@Ermaliiii only you can answer that. How much value do you place on your time? Multiply that by the amount of time it took. Factor in a cushion for non-Dev time and you’ll arrive at your number.
Fwiw, next time, scope the work and agree upon an estimate before you start. Get a deposit (⅓ is fair) before you develop anything.
That makes sense, thanks for that, I will use your calculation to see what I can come up with. I been disconnected from the industry and now I am getting back to it. I haven't done any client work in while so I wanted to see if someone can suggest some ideas since to me doing what I do is easy and a lot of times I undercharge for my work. But having a basic idea of what other people might charge for similar work would give me a better idea.
at least $150/hour. Don't sell yourself short. You did excellent work here, and your time is valuable.

No worries! What web dev’s make is all over the place. Maybe you can work out some value-based pricing with them?
I think working out a value-based pricing model would be amazing because I can offer more, but sometimes I just don't want to get too involved with other peoples business, I enjoy doing the work and not so much doing business :-/ But I am sure there is many ways you can structure this and I should look into something like this for bigger projects. Hi, I looked at your site and it certainly is very expensively looking. You certainly managed it to give the customer business a representative online-face. With the "Web Developer Checklist" add-on for FF and Chrome I found 5 HTML errors, and with the VimiumFF add-on in FF using the "f" shortcut (not CTRL-F, just lowercase letter "f") immediately a secret email target springs into life ready to get submitted. Maybe that's not in your interest. One other issue might be could you add a more direct menu to immediately get to any page, maybe something Home | About | Blah in that green tone, maybe in a condensed typeface? Not dominant, just so it's there if someone is in a hurry. Just a thought, never mind. -- PRICE? Would there be a very good reason to NOT take 2 grand? Plain and simple 1 grand for the state-of-the-art design, the 2nd grand for the React thing? Glad to answer follow-up questions where they might arise. Regards, M.

If I exposed the navigation items on all the pages, I will have to eliminate the opening navigation, this is not a website that someone need to get to it, it's more of a promo site.

Fair enough with the promo site. For the secret email thing, please do the following. Take FF or Chrome and put in the Vimium plugin (it has s light-blueish "V" logo), no config needed. You basically get vim-like shortcuts for browsing. k=up, j=down, gg=top, G=bottom, etc. Get an overview pressing a ?. Quick-search pressing / to launch, then pizza or what have you. One of those shortcuts is just pressing f. You get little orange squares with Letters in them. ESC removes them again. If you press one of the upcoming letter combinations, you get to that URL. And this is also valid for mailto anchors in HTML. Thereby the secret email square is to be found say 20% above the bottom and say 40% right from the left edge of the window. Kinda in the middle of nowhere. Can you see it? Regards, M.

I think maybe a more important question to ask (and maybe at the same time you send the invoice) is...What should I charge to maintain the site and get some recurring income? If you go too low now you will undoubtedly be setting the wrong expectation for the future.

That's a great idea, and I think would be great if I started doing more work like this. The only thing is that website like this, doesn't require much maintenance. Although it's somewhat dynamic, this is a static site so the maintenance is low.

See what other (web dev) freelancers charge per hour in NY, that way you can get an idea of what is considered fair in that area. I'm sure you can find out the rates if you do a google search.
Then consider the effort/time you put into it, you should have a rough estimation by now. Then keep adding to the price until it feels like a win.
This is great man, thank you. I will look into what other freelancers charge in the area to get a better understanding on rates. Do you know any website that lists rates for freelancers? I checked out Glassdoor but it looks like it's more for full-time salaries.
