Fancy design in emails?

In email marketing (especially for creators), the purpose of email messages...

Is to nurture relationships with subscribers & eventually turn them into customers 🤝

To do this, you don't need fancy email design.

Plus, folks subscribe to you because of how your content is going to help them.

Not because of how fancy-looking your email messages are going to look.

If you want a fancy design, by all means, apply that on your site.

Then sell subscribers to click on your link to go to your site.

Email messages with plain and simple design also have cleaner html, which helps with deliverability.

I think there’s an important distinction between fancy and polished. You can still be intentional about your design—cover images, typographical hierarchy, consistent spacing, and color palettes. This type of polish contributes to your personal or startup brand. And, if you’re sending many emails over the course of many years, it’s worth doing once.

To build relationships with subscribers, it’s important to deliver value and actually ask and encourage feedback in the early stage—and then follow up to grow those connections. You both invest in each other after all.

      All very valid points!

Well said. I especially think that a very very well-designed email can be a tiny bit daunting in some cases as you possibly destroy the "personal vibe" and it then looks more like a company email.
