Fastest Way To Validate A Business Idea

Hey Everyone,

I was just wondering who in here has a good strategy for SaaS business idea validation?

I'm thinking of collecting pre-orders (annual access to mid tier package at 80% OFF - $499) but not sure how I'm going to convince people to pay for a product that doesn't exist yet - and probably won't for a few months at least.

Anyone got tips, or experience with this?

Thanks

I've got a few examples on my site GrowthHunt.co:

    1. Validate an idea without a product #1: 400 signups and 5 initial sales of a product that is yet to exist

    2. Validate an idea without a product #2: using just a website and a checkout page + $50 Bing ads

    3. 11 days MVP: Getting to $2K MRR in 30 days

I've included the full article links above.

If you are interested in 3 minutes summary of the each case study instead of a 10-15 full article read, you can find these on GrowthHunt.co again.

    Cheers and all the best!

Hey @FroMo - considering you're pre-product, it seems like the best validation approach you could have would be to confirm that your idea is solving a high priority problem for your target customer segment.

Here's a really quick and easy-to-implement guide to Customer Problem Stack Ranking, an idea validation technique that I found from Shreyas Doshi on the Stripe product team.

I don’t, but I learned a couple of things I’m applying right now from the following books:

    • The Mom Test
    • Business Model Generation
    • Disciplined entrepreneurship

If you only had to pick one book to read from the list above, pick The Mom Test.
