Fear of validation
I've been working on a product for quite some time now. And like many others on here. I was adding fun, cool features to my app. But honestly they added zero value to my product. I am in this constant cycle of is this MVP worthy questioning. And it's tough being a solo developer figuring out what is worth making the cut and what isn't. During my day job I have other engineers that I can bounce ideas off of (relating to my day job).
But I have been burned before by asking questions about MVP ideas and feature sets. So sadly I am hesitant to be too open even on this platform. Even though everyone on here is nothing short of great and supportive. It's a wonderful community.
With all that being said, how do you deal with trust issues and validation? I think this would be a vastly better product with others opinions behind it. However getting over that fear of past injustices seems to be a hurdle I've never been able to get over.
P.S. I will finish this MVP, so the fear of validation isn't going to stop me from moving forward. I feel I'm closish to an MVP as it sits. I just don't know if it's enough.
As a tech entrepreneur with 7 years, I totally get where you're coming from. Validating is often the most challenging part. It's all about striking balance between being innovative and practical.
From my experience, the key to overcoming fear of validation is embracing open feedback while maintaining a clear vision of your end goal. Remember, not every feature needs to make the cut for the MVP. It's more about the core value.
Keep pushing, bro. I fully understand it's a lonely journey. The fact that you're this close already says a lot about your commitment and ability. Trust your instincts, they've brought you this far.

I appreciate your insight here. I've been pondering what you said and trying to come up with possible solutions and I had an idea I would like to bounce off of you. My thought is to make a youtube channel based around my product and how I'm developing it and bootstrapping it.
I see some upside and some possible downside to this. Upside is I'm getting it out in the world before I launch. More eyes. However, I feel it will bring app devs to the videos as opposed to actual end users. Though app developers can definitely use this app.
Also, the biggest potential downside is someone seeing my videos and finding potential weaknesses in my codebase and exploiting it.
