Feedback needed on landing page: Trade Journal

Hi All,

I am currently in the private beta phase of an inventory and sales tracking app I made called Trade Journal http://tradejournalapp.com. The app is a very simple application, aimed at people that don't need basic inventory and sales tracking features as well as reports and it will be priced low. It is also designed to be fun, and have a character/easter eggs throughout the app (like MailChimp).

I am looking for some feedback on this landing page. I want to have a strong copy that resonated with people who need the app. Please also put in an email and hit the submit button to get the full effect of the page.

Looking forward to hearing from you all

The aesthetic looks pretty good. I think you could improve the copy, for sure.

    • Rephrase the headline to make a promise of how your product will help the customer. Don't say what the thing is, but rather why they should want it. Does it save them time? Money? More specifically, will they make fewer errors, spot more opportunities, etc.
    • Give it a thorough proof read. "Businesses" is spelled wrong, and things like "over-featured" should be hyphenated, Excel capitalized, etc.
    • Add a screenshot or some visual element to demonstrate basic functionality and how the product looks + feels. A mock-up is totally fine, if you've yet to code the functionality.

Check out this podcast episode, it walks you through a lot of basic/intermediate concepts on landing pages: http://www.startupsfortherestofus.com/episodes/episode-256-the-10-elements-of-highly-effective-saas-landing-pages

Good luck! Post an update here, I'm interested to see how it turns out :)

        Much better!
        (1) Where it says "sign up", it should indicate that email address goes in that box.
        (2) You should probably add social proof, somehow.
        (3) I think you can come up with better examples in the activity feed. No one is going to be selling BMWs, AKs and toothpaste in one system. Try visualizing an actual target customer, and paint a picture of exactly how their typical feed would look.

Thanks, Jason! What do you mean by Social Proof (Could you elaborate). Awesome I will make a better news feed

Google "social proof landing page" ;)

Also, check out the podcast episode I posted earlier, it covers SP and a bunch of other essential components of a successful landing page.

From a designer point of view, I would say work on the logo. The icon itself is fine, but I definitely see problems with the text. The TRADE and JOURNAL words are too close, so kerning needs some work.

Additionally, I believe the tagline would look nicer if it was resized so it is the same width as the TRADEJOURNAL text.

    Hope that helps!
