Would love some feedback on the idea of making a research-based newsletter in the model of Trends.vc. Instead of focusing on marketing trends, I'd focus on cognitive bias, psychology, psychological effects. A free weekly report with a subset of the research, with a single-report upgrade option or a subscription to access all reports.
My thoughts are to have the following sections:
Some of the topics I've thought about covering:
Would love any feedback on the idea, topics, and/or strategy.
I like the idea and I think I'd subscribe. A couple of things for you to consider:
I've read things like Cashvertising in the past and forgotten a lot of stuff on biases/psychology quite quickly. This might just be me, but I found it difficult to figure out how things would be used outside of the given examples. Not sure on the solution for this, but perhaps an ELI5 version to open with and then introduce more complexities with plenty of varied examples?
How you can use it and Inoculation both seem like good sections to monetize. Teach people about a topic, provide an example or two to demonstrate the power of it, and provide a simple way to use it. Then more powerful ways it can be used, and how to avoid it yourself are part of the premium subscription.
You might want to check out Cognitive UXD - https://cognitiveuxd.com/ - I've been subscribed for a while and it seems quite similar to your idea here. You might get some good ideas on how best to proceed by having a look through their social media feed and past issues.
You could also consider topics like anchoring and survivorship bias. The first might fit into pricing strategy, and the second is something very important for people to understand in business.
Awesome feedback Kieran. Thanks for the Cashvertising and Cognitive UXD recommendations. Hadn't seen either before. I'll check them both out right away. I'm also definitely adding anchoring and survivorship bias to the list. Great suggestions.
Sounds awesome!
