Feedback on Free Consulting Course
Hey Indie Hackers,
I'm the founder of HoursLogger (~$700/MRR), a time tracking and invoicing app for consultants.
I'm working on a free resource that teaches people the basics of consulting from a legal and practical standpoint. If anyone else is in consulting, can you take a look at the slides and offer any feedback?
The course is meant to be a lead magnet to get more eyes looking at HoursLogger. I plan on shooting short videos on the slides and releasing them on YouTube. Any advice on the overall strategy would be helpful too!

Where you said "also known as independent contractor or freelancer", I think of a freelancer as somebody who gets paid per project, not by the hour. Seems like there is a difference between a consultant and a freelancer.
When you calculate an hourly rate, you may want to make a distinction between W2 consultants and corp-to-corp consultants. I think you would generally make more per hour as a corp-to-corp consultant.
Ah. Yup. There is a suble difference between independent contractors and freelancers that is probably worth mentioning.
W2 Contractor vs C2C Contractor is definitely worth talking about.

This looks great! I'd thought about doing consulting in the past, but getting clients seemed hard.
Oddly, helping out in forums and stuff has led me to people who are interested in working with me, even though I'm not very interested in consulting work! :-P
Looks good overall. Am I wrong in thinking health insurance isn't required anymore? I thought that was changed. If not, I'm gonna owe some money next year! Of course, I'm getting old and really need to figure out how to get health care haha

I added some comments. It looks good and I think now (COVID) is a good time to help people who are potentially transitioning to contract work.
I wonder if there is an opportunity to run a similar course for SME's on "finding and hiring consultants". One of my frustrations is businesses will post jobs of "you will do XYZ and ABC things" when XYZ are unrelated to ABC but they've lumped them together to either make a full time job or because the previous person had those skills. The business may get better results separating the job functions and hiring a consultant-expert to do each but it seems SME's are strongly against consulting/contractors.

Oh, and you might ask people like remoteok.io and weworkremotely.com to share the link to your course when you get it up. I think, IMO, there's some crossover and benefits to them in sharing it.
