I made a post not long ago about working on building a Heroku like PaaS that works on your VPS or Bare metal server. I want to introduce the landing page of the product:

Yeah, have followed Nanobox since their early days. I believe they actually pivoted from a public PaaS to Nanobox. Seems like they never really got it production ready. Tried it once but did not work for my use case.
Yeah DigitalOcean intends to release a PaaS for their platform based on Nanobox. Will be interesting if they launch it.
