Feedback on My new side project - ListOff.co

I am building ListOff, A Community to create lists for anything on Internet. I built the MVP and looking feedback from early users.

Link: https://listoff.co

  • Create Lists and share the lists
  • Get people to add things in your list.
  • People upvote the best things in the list.

Example list:

  • List of Articles on Getting Users for your startup
  • List of Startup Fundraising guides
  • List of motivational videos
  • List of best small town to visit in USA

I'm not sure how I feel about this idea, it's interesting but I get anxious just thinking about navigating, sorting, discovering things from potentially thousands of lists, and thousands of list items.

It feels like it's going to get overwhelming quickly and have a lot of redundant lists. (Let's be honest, how many lists of "Growth Hacks" will we need?)

    Other things to think about...

    1. The design is terrible, I know it's an MVP but you can find a better Bootstrap theme than that.
    2. List items need to show the "Source" ie. (Medium) or (Indie Hackers) or (Hacker News), etc. Need to give the user a bit of confidence into what they are clicking into.
    3. Show who owns/created the list
    4. Maybe remove the "Opens in new window icon", I feel like it's a bit obvious that all links will open in a new window.
    5. Give us some color!
    6. Your tag buttons are to large
    7. Adjust font sizes, weights and colors, padding, margin
    8. Remove the hamburger icon on each list
    9. Either remove the Eye icon or remove the word "views" they are redundant with each other.
    10. Keep moving forward!

What about a website that contains lists of discrete data that can be exported into a format desired by the end user (e.g., JavaScript array) so that it can easily be inserted into their code? For example, if someone needs a list of airlines for their travel website, the end user can go to the website, search for list of airlines (perhaps filter it by country if desired), select the "JavaScript Export" or "SQL Export" button, and have the ability to copy/paste the code directly into theirs?

Yes! Thats a very good use case. Thanks :)

Great suggestions. I would also try to introduce some sort of point system to identify the best contributors, like the Reddit or Hacker News karma system and eventually a follower/timeline system. I think the app just needs something more to make it “sticky”.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I will work on improving those things.

I think redundant lists is going to create a problem for this. But I think that can be solved by sorting out the best lists.

Interesting idea as it allows for a range of topics in lists. It would be great if lists

Your logo looks similar to a product called buffer

You can have a favicon.ico file which would show on the browser tab.

Thanks! I am glad you found it interesting!
      Done...added the favicon.ico

I would update the design to be a bit more user friendly. Its quite daunting for me personally.

Thanks for you suggestion. It is MVP, though I will work on getting the design improved.

i'd say if you want people to share the list, have a button to copy the url easily. Potentially put it/+the sharing buttons near the top of the page. best of luck!

      Thanks for the suggestion. :)

Kind of interesting, but why would I create a list there? Are you trying to build a community and have community suggestions/votes be the main selling point? I know you posted some example lists but who is your target/ideal user?

Its more like Quora for lists. Ask for a list or create a list. And people add things to your list. And you will get your list and that list could serve as a resource to anyone who is looking for them.

Plus lists are grouped by hashtags where users can just browser similar lists grouped together.
So target user is someone is who looking for very particular best resources on internet....It can be anything....from food recipes to tech resources.

Cool, in that case maybe link to lists with a similar group of tags at the bottom of the list page
