Feedback on Podclipper marketing site
Podclipper | Makes your podcast shareable!
Hey everyone -
I'd love your feedback on the marketing site for my SaaS (just revamped it this week).
Are you able to understand what the product does? Is there anything that seems confusing? or could be improved?

Hey Levi! I must be dense because I don't get it. This allows people to slice up their podcast into shareable slices? How does it work?
The focus on shareability doesn't make super sense to me because podcasts are super easy to share; just share a link and it's done.
Podclipper enables a listener to share an excerpt from a podcast. They simply select any portion of the transcript text, and instantly get a share link.
For example... say I know you're trying to choose a startup idea, and hear a clip you'll find useful... Podclipper enables me to share it with you:

Also, clips shared to social media display in nicely branded quote cards, so they're engaging.
Your first paragraph made this much more easy to understand. Something like that is needed on the landing page.
As an avid podcast listener, I can totally see this taking off. Lots of hard work goes into a podcast so being able to slice it up into excerpts to share with people can become an interesting marketing tool.

I've been struggling with the fact that it's primarily a tool for listeners... but that it's also useful as a tool for the podcast themselves. Trying to market to both use cases leads to explaining neither one well.
Listener sharing is the unique value proposition, as Podclipper is the only product which facilitates this, so I'll focus around that primarily. Thanks for your help!
Hey Levi, I really like the product. Overall I thought the marketing site demonstrates what the product does. I liked how the marketing site provides usable demos for various aspects of the product.
The only part I found confusing was how listeners could share clips. Does Podclipper have a player (like Backtracks) that the podcast is uploaded to and, through that player, shareable clips can be made? Or is there a Podclipper button that a listener clicks and they get a modal/window that provides the Podclipper capability?

Regarding how listeners share...
Podcasts embed a JS snippet on their website, and Podclipper then extends their existing transcripts with sharing capability. Listeners simply select any portion of the transcript, and are presented a "Share Clip" tooltip to click for a share link.
(This is possible, and instantaneous, because Podclipper syncs new episodes with their transcript as they're released behind the scenes and pre-computes timecodes)
I've also implemented a player with sharing capability which can be embedded as an iFrame, or linked as a separate page. The player has the advantage that you can click any word in the transcript to jump to that point in the audio, which is useful as a listener when you're trying to find and re-listen to a previous nugget. That being said... the snippet is proving to be more popular with podcasts.

"The best way to excerpt and share moments from your podcast. Empowering you — and your listeners — to spread the word!" Why does it empower? Why is it the best way?
So it took me thorough investigation to understand what it's about.
I'd immediately understand something like: "Share moments from your podcasts, get X% more listeners". And then focus the rest of the page on the comparison with existing ways of doing things, explaining the problem and your value.
If you don't have X% number yet, then you should get it. Not only it's great for marketing, but also builds up your conviction that you're creating real impact.

A key value proposition is for listeners to easily excerpt and share moments. Not just the podcasts themselves. Sounds like I definitely need to communicate this better.

My first thought was, "Is this a problem?" and I am guessing that there is but what would be really great is to lay out a scenario that touches on a pain point or problem that this solves. When I first go to the site, I can see what you are saying it does, but I want to know why I really need this...here's a formula I like to use for this which can be done in a single few sentences:
You don't even have to specifically refer to your product...it will be inferred
Here's a link to "the greatest sales deck ever seen" and guess what? You don't need a deck...i have taken these simple principles and boiled them down into doing it within about 3-5 sentences.
