Feedback on Product Hunt Launch
Hi guys,
Today me and my partner did our first ever Product Hunt launch, very exciting.
However, since we're totally new to this it would be great to get some feedback from you on our post, since many of you have already done this successfully before us. We debated for a while whether we should have included a discount or not etc and what kind of content to add in.

Hey, congrats on your very first launch! Upvoted! The video looks very professional and I think VReel can potentially be a great resource for video makers. As it's targeting a very specific niche, don't get discouraged if the post doesn't reach the top of PH. Maybe you can try to post about it in more specialised forums/discussions on video making. The 5 free clips offer will likely get you some sign ups:)
I actually haven't launched to PH yet, but I'm looking forward to it. I'm currently working on Spotista, a periodic newsletter that sends you reports on your Spotify listening habits. Would be awesome if you could check it out!

We really hope that video makers will find our platform useful - we come from the client side ourselves, having built a product we at the time were missing so fingers crossed that more content creators are lacking it as well :)

Emelie hi - best of luck! I launched everything from Alfa, Beta, Business launch to marketing assets, tools, landing pages, etc.
• Think of PH as part of the funnel.
• It's also a community. It takes time to build reputation both in terms of the # of upvotes, follows and the algorithms support. The more engaged you are over time, the more your upvote is valued.
• If you are not Apple, full-fledged products will always do worse compared to free tools, smart little gadgets, even content marketing assets.

This is probably more advice for any launch, than just product hunt. but I'd find a way to personalize the landing page a bit more to that community.
And don't give discounts. give more freebies than normal. People get addicted to discounts. But asking for more free stuff... is hard.
It could be as simple as "We picked out 5 pieces of footage we think you'll like more than anything else, we're giving these additional ones free for anyone who signs up today. Also you get normally 5 free each month, so you have your choice too."

Totally agree on the discount VS freebies statement, funnily enough I have never thought of that before, but you're totally right.
We're actually offering 5 free clips for anyone signing up, and are also giving away 10 free clips on our resource page :) Very interesting thought with adding another 5 of "your choice", will def give that a though!
