I'm working on a new brand of climb-wear called HANGR, and built a landing page waiting-list. I don't have product shots yet, still waiting to receive the final prototype before I can do that.

Assuming that this is directed towards climbers, I would love to understand:
I appreciate all honest and constructive feedback!! Cheers!
Hey,
I just read your sales pitch. In my opinion, you said way too much "Climbers". It's not by calling them out that you will convince them.
You have never talked about the problem they are facing with the current sportswear clothes and how your product will solve the problem.
In order to convince someone you need to highlight the benefits of your solution/product.
Don't forget the motto " Features tell, benefits sell".
I assume that you have talked with some climbers. What did they tell you about their problems, how do they feel about their current sportswear clothes?
People are very selfish, so if they don't understand what's in for them, they really don't care.
Now, you should try to highlight the benefits of wearing your sportswear clothes.
For example, you could compare the old sportswear and your new product.
Let me know what you're thinking of it and how we could help you further. ;)
Thanks for your feedback! I think you make a good point re just saying climbers. I ran a survey before we created our first prototype, and so I do have a list of benefits that I can share. Our first product will be leggings, and climbers want something that's flexible and can put up with the heavy demands of frequent climbing. Many leggings tear and rip, and often in very awkward places.
I think at this time though, without the product shots, I haven't really talked about the product, but focused more on the ethos of the brand. I'll definitely address the benefits part once product shots come though, and I can talk to them more tangibly. Ultimately, we are trying to grow in a new-er kind of sportswear space--namely climb-wear. However, this term 'climb-wear' is not something that people necessarily know or use as often as 'sportswear' or 'active-wear.' But we believe that climb-wear deserves its own space. It doesn't make sense that climb-wear falls under just any kind of 'sportswear.' The needs of a climber are wildly different than a general athletic person who goes gym-training, running, yoga, etc.
I'm glad you asked, this definitely helps sharpen the positioning of our brand.
Hey,
I saw that nobody answered your question, so I’ll give you some other ideas and thoughts to help you 🙂
I don’t think that you need images to sell you product..
You actually made a great job with your landing page, it looks nice and clean, that helps a bit to create trust.
But I think they are some inconsistency / incongruence in the flow.
Your headline makes us want to learn more about that product, but I have the feeling that you don’t talk enough about it.
I would personally write a little story about me as the founder or the story of a HANGR’s prospect where you explain the experience of a climber with traditional Sportswear.
You could use a headline like « Why I almost quit Climbing ».
If the biggest problem is that those leggings tear and rip and aren’t flexible enough, focus on that.
Maybe tell them a story where you began climbing as an amateur and that at the beginning the routes were super easy so you could use any sportswear but when you began to fall in love with that sport and tried to become better and better by training 3X a week, the sportswear went to its limit. So you had to try other leggings but either they were inelastic so you couldn’t make the moves you needed to progress or they weren’t strong enough and teared and ripped after a short time so every time you needed to buy new sportswear.. Yes sure, you could buy a short but hurting your knees and injuring yourself every time can quickly become a pain in the ass.
And at exactly that moment you thought, either I quit that sport now or I find a solution to that.
And here you are, creating the next big innovation in the climbing industry.
(If you write a story maybe try to use some specific terms that they use in this industry, a joke or something that’s specific to them, even if it’s just the color of the routes. It will show them that you actually know something and that you are on the same side / on the same page)
And then you can sell to your tribe:
by telling them that you focus on creating the best products for climbers and that you think it’s a shame that there were no specific products for them. Try to inspire them, by telling them how they could feel with you product, how amazing they will become etc…
And if your goal is to get more subscriber at your newsletter, try to challenge the status quo.
Give them better reasons to subscribe. Tell them that, if they subscribe to your newsletter today, they will not only become an easy bird who found an amazing new product but they will become part of the innovation. Maybe create a private FB groupe where you talk with you future customer and where they can give you some ideas and feedback, it could be helpful to have a strong relationship with them right from the beginning.
Make them feel special.
And if you have some social media accounts like Instagram (with some beautiful photos), it could be great to implement them to your site, it creates more trust and it’s an easy way to get more followers)
Oh and btw, look what Shane x Jeffree have done for their Conspiracy Collection. Try to show the behind-the-scenes of your product's creation to create anticipation and hype...and to get a stronger relationship with your futur customer :)
Use your early stage as a strength ;)
