Hello everyone, as part of π» PH + IH hackathon, my friend and I are developing a productivity app (http://unphone.me/) π΄ that keeps you off the phone and makes you money π€.
I'm deliberately not explaining the concept yet to see if the landing page does the job. If not, I'm happy to explain how it works to seek feedback on the idea.
Would love to get your invaluable feedback π€ on the landing page.
If the project is of any interest, please sign up for beta http://unphone.me
Thanks a ton.
Incredible and supporting IH community.Loving it.
Cool idea, I subbed (though no confirmation email yet).
Personally I find the emoji interrupt the reading flow a little, maybe better off putting them at the end of sentences rather than in the middle, at least in "how it works" part. Also some of it reads a little off, e.g. "Choose from hourly challenges starting soon, one runs every hour 24/7 globally." sounds a bit unnatural, especially with "hourly" and "every hour" repeated. Maybe better to phrase it as "Join one of our hourly challenges running 24/7, worldwide." The "starting soon" seems a bit out of place too since the whole project itself is "coming soon" :) Anyway, not trying to nitpick, just saying it reads a little funky :)
Also, if literally everybody in the challenge manages to stay off their phones for an hour, you end up getting less than $1 back since you deduct a fee, right? :)
Thanks ripexz for your feedback and subscribing. I just found on Mailchip website "Note: On Nov. 3, 2017, we rolled out single opt-in to most MailChimp lists. ".
I modified it to double opt-in with confirmation.
Agree, I've pushed the emojis to the end, it's more readable now.
There are two parts. 1st is "hourly" that says every challenge runs for an hour and 2nd part is "every hour" meaning a challenge starts every one hour.
"Starting soon" was not for our app launch, but for the upcoming (next hour) challenge.
But I liked your simple way and included "every hour" and changed as "Join one of our hourly challenges running every hour 24/7, worldwide." Please let me know if this is still confusing, I'' change it.
Good question (I forgot to add our "No Lose Guarantee", added it now).
This ensures that if you win your challenge, you won't lose money. Most winners make money but in the event that your challenge has an unusually high percentage of winners, we'll forfeit our cut in order to ensure that nobody loses money (after all our intention is to make you more productive, money is just for motivation). So the worst case scenario is that you'll end up being productive for free, which is still a big win.
Please let me know your thoughts.
Ah so you're trying to indicate they last an hour too, thought it was implied anyway, but yeah looks good now, maybe it would be even clearer if it said "Join one of our hour-long..." instead of "Join one of our hourly..." just to clarify you're indicating the length too... :)
Overall looking good, best of luck with the hackathon! :)
Thanks so much ripexz for your suggestion, I made the changes now.
Sounds like an interesting idea - good luck! I think your landing page gets the message across well. One question I have is how would you track phone usage?
Minor design suggestion to use bullets or dashes in a formatted list for "How it works" rather than the inline asterisks. The rest of the landing page looks nice and then that block of text looks out of place, in my opinion.
As for some general product feedback, do you think you offer "challenges" that can be started on demand instead of at set times? I know that would require some rethinking about fair payouts for the people involved around the same time.
My biggest issue would be trying to shoehorn my focussing into an hour block to be compatible with the app. Compared to apps like Focus, for example, where I can decide I'm going to start working now and it's active for half an hour, or an hour, etc.; I would find it difficult to use if I wanted to focus on something, had to wait 40 minutes for the next challenge, might be using my phone in the meantime, and then when the time comes have to immediately stop using my phone and start focussing on something else.
Thanks ttarik for your great feedback and liking the idea.
To be honest, I think you saw the copy after I changed as per below comments. When you said the page gets message across, my rewrite is working :-)
I'll try to answer your questions.
Our app actually doesn't track usage (at least for MVP).
We are trying a simple solution by tracking screen lock and unlock .When you are in the game and you unlock (means you are trying to use the phone), it sends a notification saying something like "If you don't lock your phone in 15 seconds, you fail the game".
Thanks, I changed it to bullet points.
Are you referring to the four "How it works" points as out of place ?
Coming to challenges, we initially thought of two modes.
One player on-demand (your last point) and multiplayer on set time challenges.
Actually, your last point is very valid. Waiting for next session to start is not ideal for everyone. But with one player on-demand, as you already guessed it's a bit tricky to fair payout based on who's playing the same time. It's not technically impossible, but for the MVP we want to begin simply with the multiplayer mode. Sure if the idea receives well, definitely work on that.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Great to see all your feedback. Learning a lot.
Decent landing page. Some critique from me:
#1. It is not clear from the top images what the number on the images means. For e.g. does the first "on the go" image means that 80% of people use their phones "on the go" or people use their phone "on the go" 80% of the times.
#2. People would like to know more details about "Make money from your phone".
All the best with the hackathon.
Thanks rajagz for your critique. I will try to answer the questions.
2.Please see if the copy is any clear now.
I'm new to copywriting, and learning as I go based on awesome people feedback.
Good luck with the Hackathon!
I took a look at your landing page and am still unsure what your product does. It didn't peak my interest enough to add my email. For me the biggest question after looking at the page is: "How?" How do you make my phone more productive?
Also, small grammatical error, "Unphone enable you to" should be "Unphone enables you to"
Thanks tylerswartz for your feedback. Thanks for picking the error.
I reworked the whole copy to make it clear.
Can you please check if it is any clear and peak your interest now?
Iβm curious about it, though to be honest Iβd need more info to enter my email. How does it work? What does it even do? What does it look like? Is it an app? A website? How/why would you pay me to use it?
Thanks ConquerApathy for your feedback. I realized copy was not intuitive, so reworked the whole thing.
Can you please check if it answers your questions now?
Ahhhh, that is WAY more clear now. Nice job! Cool idea too. I like the commitment device. Money is a powerful motivator.
Thank you, glad it is clear now. Indeed money is a powerful motivator and it is our USP.
