Feels like it's missing (a lot)

Helloe Makers/Builders,

My name is Amir and I'm currently in the process of validating an idea(itch). The tool is going to be called https://kikoa.online and is a tool in which you would be able to manage all your domains through 1 interface.

I was hoping could have a look at the landing page and give some feedback on what to improve. I still feel like it's lacking, but because I haven't started building anything I find it hard to get it "smexy".

Even though this is my first try, don't go easy on me #roast.

Thanks a lot for your time!

I like the typography in the over the fold area, the logo isn't too bad either. It does a bit awkward as a Favicon, though.

I also like how you clearly say this thing is not ready yet, i.e., coming soon.

What I don't like is how the email entry field is basically invisible (no borders), and there is no incentive for me to join your waiting list. I want things now, not some unspecified time in the future. If I'm going to wait, what's in it for me? Also, there is zero indication about privacy policy. It might be illegal for you to collect people's information like this (depending where you live).

The What does Kikoa do section looks visually dull. Adding some high quality icons with colors would make this area look a lot better.

There are two things that a yet to be launched website needs: 1) some estimate when is this thing going to be launched, and 2) some estimate of the pricing.

These two are critically important, because most people won't stick around to wait for your product for a year. A week, sure. A month, probably. But that's about the max. And if this thing is going to be too expensive for me, I'm not going to stick around waiting, either. The fact that you don't share anything about the pricing makes me think this is going to be too expensive. (Not showing the price is typically what expensive service providers do).

Lastly, a few tips: Add a feature to validate the DMARC and SSL certificate settings of domains, and this would be a really nice tool. If you want to make it from nice to epic, add simple uptime monitoring. Adding such feature would be fairly trivial, but it would be an awesome addition. With these additions and if the price was right, I'd pay for this.

It would also be nice to know who are you and why did you decide to build this.

I like what you are building here, I hope you will improve this and this thing will launch soon.

Thank you so much for the extensive remarks! This is really great(all the feedbacks have been great).

Based on the feedback I got im already improving and will push it in the coming days.

      Let me try to summarise it a tad;

"I like the typography in the over the fold area, the logo isn't too bad either. It does a bit awkward as a Favicon, though."

Yeah I might leave it for now, but will definitely want to improve this.

"I also like how you clearly say this thing is not ready yet, i.e., coming soon. yeah I’m planning to push an update coming days to fix that ugly input field + some additional pages (blog). So I might add a policy page as well. I didn’t think that this would be necessary at this stage.

"The What does Kikoa do section looks visually dull. Adding some high quality icons with colors would make this area look a lot better."

This definitely needs so more love and affection. I’m still thinking about how to improve this.

"There are two things that a yet to be launched website needs: 1) some estimate when is this thing going to be launched, and 2) some estimate of the pricing.

Good point! I’ve really not thought about the roadmap in detail yet, mostly trying to see if this is a valid idea to pursue. But to give a bit more context: I’m thinking of developing a MVP which I can share as a beta somewhere in Februari. It won’t have all the features obviously but it will be a start.

"And if this thing is going to be too expensive for me, I'm not going to stick around waiting, either. The fact that you don't share anything about the pricing makes me think this is going to be too expensive. (Not showing the price is typically what expensive service providers do)."

I’m so far off thinking about pricing right now. It’s probably going to be beta version -> testing -> adding features -> launch.
The idea of the tool is to save you time while being cost efficient. So figuring out the right feature/price balance is definitely something I want to keep as low as possible (if I get any users of course).

"Lastly, a few tips: Add a feature to validate the DMARC and SSL certificate settings of domains, and this would be a really nice tool. So something like a feature to test how long your SSL is still valid for? This might be a cool tool to show on the frontend! Like this idea, didn't think about that.

It would also be nice to know who are you and why did you decide to build this. I like what you are building here, I hope you will improve this and this thing will launch soon.

I’m planning on adding a blog, about page to so visitors can read “learn” more about Kikoa and why I’m trying to build it.

Thanks again for all the feedback and time!

    Love the simplicity:

    1. Move header text a little higher

    2. Extend the black section to be taller, but make all the text white

    3. I know it's a domain names management tool, but I'd add how it actually manages domain names. But maybe this is coming later.

Do you have a twitter? I'd love to keep track of this product. Here's mine for reference: https://twitter.com/TheRealEtch

      Hi RichardGao,

Thanks for the remarks. I definitely need to improve the "what is it..." part (it's clear in my head, that's for sure :D)

      You can follow me at:

Haven't had a reason to be active on Twitter before, but will be posting here a lot as well.

You could always subscribe to the newsletter to get notified when there's new updates (probably going to add a blog on https://kikoa.online to share my journey as well).

    Heey,

It looks minimalistic, it might the design you are going for.

    Some simple UI fixes:

    • the Email Input field isn't visible (you might wanna add a light gray border around it)
    • Give the "Notify Me" button an accent color (Blue/Red/Green).
      Some structure Changes:
    • Describe the problem you are fixing (managing domain names is hard because...)
    • Describe the solution for these problems
    • If you have some screenshots or wireframes add them :)

    It's a good starting point

      Hi mauritsschman,

Thanks for your remarks. I'm definitely stuck at the UI-side of things (lost without a designer looking at it).

I wish I had some screenshots to use, but might just make some (skeleton) wireframe just to make it clear that there's going to be a dashboard in which you can do your thing.

I'm planning to add some more content (clear descriptions) and definitely will improve the CTA's.
