I have 2 daughters that are 3 and 5 years old. I work for a startup and I also have my own venture on the side. Before my first child was born, I was sort of successful, but also sort of directionless and scared to try to live up to my potential.
After a couple years, fatherhood really pushed me to be a better person. I wanted to give my family a better life and I also wanted to enjoy time with my family more, without being frustrated, angry or stressed that I wasn't doing other things.
And of course, then came covid and working from home.
I am still a work in progress, but over these last few years I've added a lot of things that have served me really well and kept me going: exercise, meditation, a daily gratitude practice, reading/listening to a book a week, coaching, spending time in communities of makers like here on Indie Hackers, staying inspired on Twitter and in some subreddits.
I know that my exact balance of habits and practices won't work for everyone, but I am thinking of developing an app that offers a quick daily check-in for fathers of young children that are balancing family, work, and other ambitions. I think this could be really helpful.
It would help you to make sure that you are:
In general, I'd like to help fathers feel that each day they are focused, happy, and productive. I want you to have a positive mindset that propels you to greater levels of personal achievement and fulfillment. I want you to feel like a super dad that is perfectly balancing home, work, and new business responsibilities.
I know I'm not alone in this journey, but I wanted to see if anyone would have interested in something life this. If this appeals to you in some way, please take a survey and you can follow along as this evolved.
