If you'd create your perfect city how would it look?

If you'd create your perfect city how would it look? What would be different than a regular city?

🌳🏠🌳🏠🌳🏠

I'll start:

  • no cars at all, only public transport skytrains
  • public electric scooters, bicycles for free everywhere
  • no factories etc within a giant radius of the city
  • sensors everywhere to measure the environment quality 24/7

Also:

  • basic income and free minimal housing for everyone, don't let ANYBODY starve or suffer
  • free public coworkings in every neighborhood
  • hyperfast internet everywhere

Factories are other people's workplace. The farther they are, the longer the commute, and the less likely it is for good public transportation will reach then. By making things nicer for some you make them worse for others (less privileged ones)

No advertising allowed, companies can market only through getting online reviews for great service or products.

The public actually have a say in creating policy, through some tech solution to voting.

You have to complete an annual course on policy to obtain a voting licence to vote.

    Lots of co-living housing options.

Lots of sports facilities and plenty of nature within the city, parks and nice walks/runs.

    4-day work-week is the norm.

Basically, design the city with the book "Lost Connections" by Johann Hari in mind (highly recommended).

On the topic of zoning, here's an interesting article: http://urbankchoze.blogspot.com/2014/04/japanese-zoning.html
