Finally announced my startup to friends & family 😬
Quit my job & moved to Bali 4 months ago. Everyone from home, while some seemed “jealous” of me living in paradise, most were definitely questioning what the hell I was doing with my life. I had a high-paying consulting job and I “threw it all away” to go be a bum in Bali.
Most of my Instagram content (@Kenny_Hanson_) has been me hacking away with Hackagu crew at a coworking space, but nobody actually knew what I was doing. I had a lot of questions, to which I answered, I’m working on “some projects,” but never told anyone what it was or the URL (MentorPass.co), until last night.
I finally got over the fear and “shipped” it on my Instagram. It was well received - 400+ likes, 100+ visitors to the site, some new suppliers for my marketplaces, and a few people they said they want to use it once we’re live.
I don’t launch until Thursday, but it’s good to have that early boost before.
I’m throwing a big event in Canggu on Thursday night with some of our top mentors. I’ll be live streaming on our Instagram, @MentorPass.co!
Way to go man! This is a great idea. I actually was thinking about this same idea and I found Indie Hackers today and stumbled on your post. So glad I did man. You did a great job. It Would be great for Real Estate, finance, Web Dev and a bunch of others. I hope you kill it man. How do you think you will attract quality mentors? Now to move on to the next one 😆

I appreciate that @AndrewKamphey, but I've got a little while to go before I'm ready for PH. Want to improve discovery & booking UX, increase mentor supply, conversion, and build a bit of community before I go for any high-traffic sources.
