Finally crossed $100 MRR after 2 years- feel both embarrassed and proud 😅

My community Indie Masterminds finally crossed $100 MRR 🤩

I feel both embarrassed and proud right now.

Embarrassed because - When I launched the community 2 years ago, I started with one time pricing.

I told myself this is only for initial validation, within 6 months I'll have a subscription model for the community.

The jury is out on this, but I think any sustainable business needs a recurring revenue model.

If I only have one time pricing, then I would be forced to add more and more new members in the community every month to keep it sustainable.

But that will derail the quality of the community.

Right now its very tight knit, feels small but mighty.

Beyond 200 people, a community starts to feel less like a community, and more like another social network.

So I have to find a way to keep the community sustainable with 200 members max.

This means having a recurring revenue model.

But recurring revenue is downstream of recurring value.

This is my source of embarrassment, that it took me almost 18 months to figure out the right features in the community, where I can provide recurring value.

Before that, all revenue came from selling one off mastermind cohort seats. Which was good money for the time I invested, but there was no certainty of future revenue.

Over the last 6 months I've started new initiatives that are able to add value to members on a repeat basis.

Daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly systems for members to benefit from the community.

Stuff like accountability check-ins, monthly mastermind calls, virtual co-working sessions, 1:1 quarterly consulting and more..

All of these are finally starting to bear fruit.. in this tiny MRR milestone.

I know this isn't much.

The community has made $16000+ so far with one time payments, but the $145 MRR feels way more satisfying somehow 😅

So yea, I'm embarrassed for being this late, but I'm also proud that I'm finally moving in the right direction.
