Finally launched my Webflow development studio business after being affected by tech laid off... And I don’t wanna look back anymore!

Hi Indie Hackers! 👋

I’m Alex – an ex-Product designer and project manager with 6 yrs of experience… That’s how I used to introduce myself until Nov 24, 2022. That was the day my life was divided into before and after. I was laid off.

I don’t want to write a lot about what I felt, since everyone who has been laid off knows that. It’s painful, scary, sad, and extremely stressful, you feel lost since all your life plans were ruined. You don’t know what to do next and how are you going to pay the bills.

But I’m so glad that I always worked super hard and learned a lot of skills and knowledge that gave me confidence that I can actually build my own business, as I always wanted. I knew that now is an economic downturn, and probably now isn’t the best time to start, but hey, there is no best time to launch.

The most difficult thing for me was to cope with the stress of uncertainty and anxiety. And thank God I have my wife by my side. She always listened to my complaints and supported me on my journey.

Time went by, I build a strategy, gave myself a few months of dedicated work only on building a business and told myself that I will not going to give up and seek for a full-time job during this time.

Having been a project manager in a studio, I already had a good understanding of the niche I wanted to work in and what I wanna do — high-performant, optimized, and visually appealing Webflow websites for startups, entrepreneurs, and SaaS companies. Also, I was aware of the problems companies were facing and how I could help solve them with my services. This gave me a good starting point for knowing what steps I needed to take.

After that, I compiled all the info and built a website that I’m thrilled to officially launch today! Now, the next step is to spread the word about my business and find 1-2 clients/mo to be able to hire team members and grow at least on 30% MoM.
