Finally launched ruttl on Product Hunt after 2.5 years! ✨

I still remember at the start of the 2020, I was extremely eager to launch ruttl on Product Hunt. It felt as if the tool was ready.

But, it was far from reality.

Although tough, but the right decision, me and @siddhitaupare decided to invest time and efforts into perfecting the product properly. We simply focused on improving experience, deploying valuable features, achieving market fit and ensuring our users were loving the tool.

2.5 years fast forward to today, I'm super excited because we've finally launched ruttl on Product hunt. Since Indiehackers community has been so helpful and welcoming to me for the past year, I'm reaching out for some help. :)

If you feel ruttl is a valuable tool, it would really mean a lot if you can spare one minute and help me out by supporting our launch! 🙏

To help us out, click on this link to visit and show some love to our launch page.

P.S - If you've launched on PH before, please drop your links. I'll be more than happy to support you as well guys! 🥂

Thanks again,
Harsh 💯

Hey, I went to visit your page and found I'd already upvoted. Congratulations on being number one!

I launched on Monday, not as successful as you but I was pretty pleased with the result (much earlier in the lifecycle). Since you mentioned dropping the PH Link:

We are thinking of launching https://nutmaq.com as well soon on PH.

Do you have any must know tips / best practices? I am making a summary of tips, scraping Twitter as well the last couple of weeks already...

Hey man, sorry for the late reply.

      Thank you so much!

I know that collecting feedback can be a real pain, especially when people don't respond to emails. That's why I started working on this project. I built it with a co-founder that shares the same pain. We started out as a design agency, but the fact that we had to rely on emails and other 3rd party means of communication drove us nuts. So we decided to create ruttl in hopes of making things easier for ourselves.

Using this tool for the past 2 yrs, love to see the way it has grown so much.

    1. 1

      That's great!
Thank you for your support :)

  9. 1

This is awesome! How did you decide that you were ready for PH? Were there specific milestones that you wanted to hit first?

  10. 1

I'm thinking of launching https://www.unmelondepixeles.com/ on product hunt too! Did you also use Ashley's checklist? https://ashleymarinep.gumroad.com/l/product-hunt-checklist

    1. 2

I'll be honest @the0posthuma with you - I actually didn't use any other checklist, just created my own list of tasks. Read bunch of launch stories of other founders via tweets and blogs.

Ashley's checklist might be good too! But I've also heard that this checklist launched on PH is robust as well. Have a look at it!

      1. 1

oh wow, this is a nice list too :D

Hey Harsh! The D-Day, launching on PH 🥳
The product looks great, and changing the way Design reviews work, nailing the pain points of going through Design reviews and fixing them. Love the product, definitely gonna use it 🤠

    1. 2

Haha thank you so much @anumitha! Please do give it a spin and let me know if you have any issues while using the tool through the support section of ruttl :)

"2.5 years fast forward to today"

Wow, when the current wisdom is all about MVP-ing the MVP, no feature creep etc, taking the time to ship a polished product does take a lot of guts.

What was the norm back then for software shipped in CDs or floppy drives (remember those?) i.e long dev times and shipping finished products would today be considered super contrarian(only seen from big tech like Apple/ Microsoft)

    Congrats on making it!

    1. 1

Haha had we launched back then, it would have failed miserably. The product was just not ready yet. Definately polishing it helped us out.

      Thanks for the support @chadburger!

  15. 1

Congratulations on that! Launching on ProductHunt has always been a little daunting for me. Would love to know more about your experience.

    1. 1

100% agreed. I had mixed feelings the night before too. But luckily, things panned out nicely. I'll be writing a detailed post in this week. Make sure to stay tuned for it :)

  16. 1

That's a very long time to be working on something before launching. I didn't wait that long when I launched fabform.io I would honestly not have had the patience.

  17. 1

Hey Harsh - 20 minutes ago I saw your launch on PH and sent it through to our design team saying we should use it. Looks like an awesome product congrats on getting it out there :)

  18. 1

Congratulations! You've been working toward this for so long, you should take some time to celebrate before getting back to work.

  19. 1

Not bad! What was your biggest source of users just after launch?

  20. 1

Congrats! You guys have been featured in the PH daily email. How did that happen? Did you reach out to them beforehand?

  21. 1

I also use idle hacker app a month ago and I found it awesome. I am very interesting to explore such a kind of app. Recently I am working on a gaming app available on https://apkmosa.com/

  22. 1

Congratulations on staying the course and making yet another win!

  23. 1

Upvoted! Congrats for being that patient ;)

      Thanks for supporting @rickywrites!

  32. 1

    congrats to the team :)

Wow, >900 upvotes!! That is amazing! Great work! When I first created the WBE Space I also was eager to launch on PH. But that was a mistake. It's much better to wait until you have a bigger audience.
That way one can really take advantage of the traffic it generates.

Better to ask for forgiveness, than permission.

Ah haha, these bums don't reply. Good point, @Primer

It's in their Terms and Conditions when you sign-up:
      "You shall:
Grant us the right to add your name and your company logo to our customer list and website, unless otherwise precluded by prior written agreement."

Every customer we advertise as social proof, we have obtained their express permission beforehand. Often, it's against their policy and we don't receive permission. Infrequently, they might ask for something further in exchange, like a discount.

    4. 1

I a sure this is deceptive marketing. Some may say that it's free advertising for those companies but I personally feel that it is deception.

          Ok. I got you!

    5. 1

      curious about this too

    6. 1

Ask. I've seen companies have regulations around how you can use their logo to promote your work.

    7. 0

Better to ask forgiveness than permission is not only the right idea strategically, but also legally.

Just do it. I've done it on my agency's company's and never once did anyone from those (giant, multinational) companies say anything.
