Been working on awesomeContact for the past couple of months now......its a mailer api for your contact form anyway please critique my landing page......THE GOAL: I needed it to be straight to the point and help a visitor to understand how the product works from the get go.
What are you're thoughts does it accomplish that does it need anything more added to it? Anything about it I should improve? P.S. Don't tell anyone but it breaks on smaller view-ports but i'll fix that soon.
Hi @charleskiarie,
Congrats on overcoming your launch paralysis :)
First thing that comes to mind is that grammatical and spelling errors immediately make the product seem less legitimate. Be careful not to mix up "your" and "you're" -- and you misspelled "guarantee" somewhere in there as well.
Your landing page explains what your product should do well enough. Can you explain why this is better than the embeddable forms services that exist out there today?
First of all sorry for the rather late reply and thank you I will be fixing up the copy by end of today while also squashing more bugs on my end. Really thank-you for taking the time to give me feedback. <3
@charleskiarie the How it works explains well and being a non technical person, I was also able to understand it. Just add a columns where you explain the pain point and the benefits.
I will, this was just the MVP landing page which clearly surpassed my goals......Thanks for taking the time to look at it and give me feedback <3
Hey @charleskiarie
First, congratulations on launching! That's a big step.
I have some thoughts on your landing page copy and the general design.
Your headline is a little confusing right now.
"We are a mailer api for your contact form that works with awesome static websites."
My biggest question is: Who is your ideal customer?
Getting that nailed down will help pull the copy out of their needs.
Why do they need awesomeContact? Are they non-technical people who can't work out the backend for sending emails? Are they somebody who needs to save time by not developing the backend?
What language would they use when they say they need a service like awesomeContact?
On a technical note, as a developer, I don't think of this service as an API. I think of it as something less technical, in a good way. Typically an API requires sending an http request and dealing with whatever formats are defined by the contract. Even the simplest ones require some level of development. This seems lighter than that.
I think you can actually summarize what you're offering in your headline, while keeping it interesting.
I would do something like:
"Your form + awesomeContact = email sent"
That, in my mind, illustrates that people are really just submitting their form to awesomeContact.
In your subhead:
"You're visitors don't have to leave the browser to get in touch with you."
"You're" should be "Your". I didn't understand why somebody would have to leave the browser to get in touch. I am assuming because they'd have to open their email client. I think that sentence is a little confusing.
I would be a little more explicit on what the service is. Using the headline idea I suggested, you could do something like:
"Simply submit your form to awesomeContact and let us handle sending the email"
I recommend making your CTA buttons bigger and keep the button text the same.
Minor thing but I would leave the HTML formatting in your code examples.
Under Pricing, I recommend a change:
"That means for a one off payment of $5.99 awesomeContact is free for 2 months and with full refund gaurantee."
If the customer is paying $5.99, it isn't actually free for 2 months. It's $5.99.
This line needs punctuation if you want to keep it. I don't think you actually need it though.
"All I ask for is brutal honesty like right now if you didn't sign-up let me know why here any and all feedback is appreciated."
A design critique:
The purple on green is hard to focus on. It made it hard to read that headline. I'd go with a white background or rework the color combination.
Good luck and I hope it takes off!
First of all @dmontooth you are a GOD at copy......and I will keep coming back to this message just to use it as a basis for how to think about writing copy. P.S. I think I will use your awesome tagline because its just that awesome and straight to the point.
I will fix up my copy and straighten out my pricing copy also because what you said made a lot of sense......I especially learnt a lot from your comment. Some of the stuff I wrote was in the moment because I edited the copy at 4am and then pushed everything live.
I would enjoy to have it take off if I can get it to $100 by end of 2019 that would be amazing for me I have done the math it would take me 15 paying customers. I still have no idea where to start but for now its getting the product back to a stable working condition. So I will be focusing on this over the weekend.
If you have anything on the topic of writing copy that you think might help please send it my way.
Lots of thanks for this and i really appreciate it. <3
You're welcome. I hope it helps. I'll keep an eye on your landing page.
