Financial firm wants to use our product but asking for "information security review" before signing contract

Hey all,

About a day ago, we got a client looking to host a few of podcast with our platform but have requested more then the usual information.

While most of their inquiry question where standard, i have not clue how to respond to "Are you willing to do information security review before signing the contract? ". As startup, my first thought is this will cost a lot of time and money for not enough gain.

Has anyone here ever experienced this? How did you handle it?

Agree immediately and figure out how to move through the details as quickly as possible. Welcome to enterprise sales, my friend.

Agreed! I have some help from a friend now.

This is pretty common. You'll learn a lot about what type of company they are based on the questions in the security review. My last company built voice apps for big brands, and without fail, the worst customers were the ones that had security audits that hadn't been updated since 1492. "What's the physical address of your server(s)?" The thought of doing anything in the cloud was mind boggling to them :D

That's funny! I actually have a friend who works in the security space and has agreed to consult me on the process.

If they are requesting a security review that isn't just checking boxes on a list, tell them you can do it, but tell them (diplomatically) they're going to pay for it.

That's the advice i keep getting. So, im going to take that route.

      Honesty first. Undersell, over deliver.
