Find the perfect gift in a breeze!
Hi everyone,
With my app @ https://spot.gifts I want to help people find that perfect gift :)
Rather than browsing large catalogs of products, users of spot.gifts are presented with a sequence of products and a Machine Learning engine in the background is tasked with trying to progressively improve recommendations. I source products from various places so that users don't have to browse multiple sites.
My ultimate goal is to present the perfect gift to my users in as few clicks as possible. The quality of the recommendations is not yet where I'd like it to be, but I wanted to show this first draft & see if there was any interest in something like this, and also appreciate any feedback.
What do you guys think?
Wow very interesting idea! I think you might want to explore having more age ranges past 18+. Peoples interests as they age change significantly through life stages. For example a 20 year old and a 40 year old are going to appreciate much different things. As well, the categories might need to be expanded as well to include more interests. Perhaps you could poll some people?
Also could there be a place to enter some known interests for the gift so that the recommendations can start off a bit more tailored?
I really think this is a good idea. I suck at trying to find gifts for people.
Good start. Needs work. Found I clicked No to shortlist an item then wanted to go back and check it again. Maybe don't force shortlist yes/no but have next/prev with heart/dislike to shortlist/indicate you don't want other items like this one. With decent recommender engine idea has legs. Best of luck!

Great idea, but the engine for recommending gifts isn't that great yet...
