Finding first users by joining real conversations (why I built Leado)

Hey everyone,

I’m building Leado, a tool that helps founders find their first users by surfacing Reddit threads where people are actively asking for solutions like yours.

This started as a pain I had myself. I knew my product solved a real problem, but I kept missing the exact moments when people were asking for help. I’d find a 3-day-old Reddit post where someone said:

“Looking for a tool to do X, any recommendations?”

…and by then, the conversation was already over. Someone else had recommended a product, the user moved on, and the window was gone.

I tried doing daily manual searches, but it took forever and it was easy to burn out.
So I built a workflow to:

  • Watch the subreddits where my audience hangs out

  • Detect buying-intent language (“alternatives to…”, “how do you choose…”)

  • Respond with experience first, not a pitch

That workflow turned into Leado.

What Leado does today:

  • Identifies Reddit threads in real time where someone is evaluating or switching tools

  • Highlights the context (pain point, timeline, what they’ve tried already)

  • Helps you reply in a value-first way that builds trust

  • Tracks which replies lead to actual conversations

  • Identifies the threads that are Google indexed so your brand website gets value from your reply as well

It’s not mass DM, scraping, or outreach automation.
It’s about showing up in the right conversation at the right time.

Who it’s useful for:

  • Early-stage SaaS founders

  • Indie hackers trying to get first traction

  • Tools solving workflow or productivity pain

Why I’m sharing here:

I know a lot of us are trying to answer the same question:

“How do I get my first users without feeling like I’m begging for attention?”

If you’ve tried something similar, I’d love to hear:

  • Which communities you found high intent in

  • How you approached replying in threads

  • Any lessons learned from distribution-by-conversation

I’m here to learn alongside everyone else, if anyone wants the exact search queries + reply templates I use, just comment below and I’ll share them.

Excited to be here 👋

The “experience first, not pitch” part is the whole game. One filter that’s worked for me: only reply when you can answer a concrete detail from their post before mentioning your tool, otherwise it reads like drive-by promo.

    I tried it, nice app.

You've perfectly described the 'late to the thread' pain point. Leado sounds like a much-needed solution for early-stage founders. Congrats on the launch!
