Finished my landing page! How does it look?

Being my first attempt at making a landing page on my own I'm quite happy with how it turned out, but I'm also really looking forward to know your thoughts on how to improve it further. So thanks in advance!

https://www.hyperfound.com

EDIT: This has gone way over my expectations, thank you so much to ALL of you guys for your precious feedback! I already made good use of some of your advices :)

Overall really sharp page. I found the sheer amount of shiny objects (animations, bright colors, icons, illustrations) on the page distracted me a bit from your copy / message, but I did appreciate the shiny objects in and of themselves.

    1. 1

Thanks for the feedback, I'm glad you liked the shiny stuff! I know what you mean, there was a moment when I realised I was overdoing it and I had to control myself. I tried to reach a balance, but is there any "distracting element" that you would suggest me to tune down further?

      1. 2

I'm reluctant to give super specific feedback as aesthetics can be quite arbitrary, but the question I ask myself when I add color or design flare to landing pages / products is -- what is the purpose of this? Am I trying to make the eye go to this place for a particular reason? Is this design change going to help my page convert better?

For that reason, I'm a big fan of pictures / illustrations that get across key points and for animations / flare on things you want the user to pay attention to / click on like CTA buttons.

If I had to give a specific example of a place I probably wouldn't add flare, it would be something like the numbering on your "How it works" section -- the animations and colors on the 1, 2, 3 are cool, but for me don't add any additional information, and distract me from reading the actual content next to them.

I would try not to over rotate on this, as early on time spent on sales will probably be more helpful than redesigning your landing page over and over.

        Hope this helps!

Thank you for the great feedback! I definitely get what you're saying, and I actually have in mind how to change some parts to make it more effective. As you guessed though, I have to give precedence to some other stuff over the landing page at the moment, so it will probably take some days.

But I'll post again here on IH once I finish it, and I'd be really curious to know your thoughts on the next redesign!

    Hi Jacopo,

Your headline could be a lot better - "Find a co-founder for your remote startup", for example is a lot easier to understand. "Cofounding" sounds weird to me.

In terms of aesthetics it feels a bit too much - everywhere. If you're looking to improve it further I'd go with this mindset: what can I eliminate or take out without losing your message

    1. 1

Thanks for the great advice! I've honestly struggled a bit with the headline trying to make it short yet fully descriptive. While I think it does get the message the way I wanted (answering "what is Hyperfound") I also have mixed feelings about the word "cofounding".

Also about the aesthetics I agree that I need to tune things down a bit.

At least I've got some stuff to work in the next redesign :)

  3. 3

    Ciao Jacopo !

I like a lot the layout but Is just too much going on, and it could distract users from signing up.

I wouldn't use that much color for the background mixed with humaaans illustrations. Either you use the illustration on a plain bg without gradients or just a well elaborated gradient, use a gradient as a tool not for hust decoration.

I would try to have less color on the bg and text. Try not to use ted on buttons either, it can be related with failure.

Hope it helps and have a good day !

    1. 1

This is super helpful, Michael! I will definitely make use of your advices in the next redesign, which will probably happen very soon :)

      1. 1

You are very welcome Jacopo, let me know if I can help you.

  4. 2

Visually, I think it looks good, but the animations and colors are definitely distracting!

My first reaction - what exactly is a cofounding platform? Maybe it would be more clear if it just said "Find your co-founder". The issue with the term "cofounding platform" is that I haven't heard it before and I now I'm trying to envision what it might be.

My second reaction - founding a company with someone is not easy, and you're taking on a lot of risk if you don't spend a lot of time with them. One thing that would make the value proposition feel less risky is if you have examples of successful co-founders who met (and or work) remotely. That would be huge.

    Best of luck!

    1. 2

Thanks for the feedback! I get what you mean, I'm already looking for an alternative to "cofounding platform" as I have mixed feelings as well about it.

I particularly appreciate your advice in your second reaction! I definitely plan to add testimonials to make the process feel much less risky for remote founders :)

      1. 1

Yes, testimonials will be very exciting to see! Btw - my cofounder and I signed up for Startup School earlier this year (just a bunch of video lectures and some chat-roulette-like video sessions with other companies) and there are lots of people on there that are looking for founders. I would imagine that many of them might be willing to consider founding a company with someone remotely!

Not sure when they run sessions next, but would be good to put on your radar if it's not on your to do list already: https://www.startupschool.org

        1. 1

I was into startup school as well! I’ve already posted there some days ago and many of them have indeed subscribed, but I plan to do it again in the next weeks. Thanks for the heads up though :)

  5. 2

Looks good and the message of your product is nicely presented.

  6. 2

    I like the homepage. It's hyperanimated :D

    1. 2

Just what I was hoping to read!

  7. 2

Hey Jacopo, I think the idea is brilliant. When is the release date? - The design looks good - Cookies policy on point. I signed up.

    1. 1

Thank you so much for the kind words and for subscribing! We plan to launch the basic version of the platform in the next few weeks, but since you subscribed we'll keep you posted via email on what happens next! :)

  8. 2

I liked all the steps it was easy to follow, but found myself wanting to know more about the deals and perks at the end for collobration tools. Even just some more teaser info would be nice.

    1. 1

Thanks for the feedback! I get what you mean, I'll definitely plan to share more details in the next weeks! So stay tuned :)

  9. 2

    Looks good to me!

  10. 1

    My feedback:

    • Change the logo color into something white-ish. Right now it really conflicts with the background. Red on blue = not good.
    • You should use a simpler color scheme. Rule of thumb is no more than 2 dominant colors (primary color & accent color) and some soft, subtle colors.
    • CTA should ALWAYS on the right side or under the input field (unless the language is rtf).
    1. 1

Thank you for the feedback! Gonna work on all these on the next redesign :)

  11. 1

Please, recolor this stripe. It personally slices for nothing the screen in a very extreme way

  12. 1

Congratulations on building your first landing page. Few tips:

    • Add some screenshots/mocks of the actual app
    • Reduce the contrast
    • Add some more whitespace, increase section paddings

Let us know about the v2, when you'll launch it. :)

    1. 1

Thanks for the great feedback! Definitely planning to add mock ups among other things in the future, and. I can't wait to show you all the next version!

  13. 1

Nice landing page. Which tools did you use to create it?

    1. 2

Thanks! It's all done in Webflow :)

  14. 1

How awfully I'm tired to see the same illustrations over, and over, and over, and over (+ 1000 times more) again.

  15. 1

Looks great. It's very clear what the site is. Out of curiosity, how were you able to get the startup deal partnerships? Was it through cold emailing?

    1. 1

Thank you for the feedback, glad you like it! :)

While startup partnerships are more of a long term thing (and so I will dedicate much more time on them in the future), as you guessed they're mostly happening through cold email until now.

      1. 1

interesting! what roles are you finding that are in charge of this?

  16. 1

Hiya, I think it's great and really professional. Perhaps you slightly overdid the animations but really good. I signed up. One thought I had in terms of my own internal objections to signing up was that I'd like to get onto the site and see the range of people you had signed up before getting further involved. So you might need to incentivise that somehow to get things off the ground...

If you have a bit of time check out my signup page here: http://restspace.io, and let me know what you think.

    James

    1. 2

Thanks for the great advice, and for signing up of course! I definitely plan to add the number of people who signed up in the future, the only reason I'm not doing it now is because I think they're still too few to be put on display, and the website has been up since roughly a week. I wanted to start by displaying the "number of countries" of the subscribers and use a map to make it visual... but I guess I'll see what I can do in the next days!

About your website, I like the design! And since you asked for advice:

      • I would refrain from using a font size in vw (0.6vw in your body) as it gets crazy big on large displays - such as laptops.
      • I would put a concise "what is Rest Space" section at the beginning, highlighting it somehow (yellow text? Bigger? etc.) or even just separating it from the bulk of the text. This helps visitors immediately understand what you're doing, which is critical in every website.
      • About the text, I would also reduce the number of words as much as possible. I know it seems daunting (I think I've spent 10x times working on content than on design in Hyperfound) but it helps a lot. You essentially want to just focus only on what matters to your users.
      • And about the previous point, if your service is for people who can't code make sure not to go into too much details about programming stuff and make it as easy as possible for them to understand.

Keep up the great work! :)

      1. 1

Many thanks for checking it out, great advice.

        1. 1

Also I think it's a nice plan to hide the other users initially until you have a good number of signups, as not showing users but saying you'll open it up later is more intriguing than just showing a few potential partners which aren't interesting.

    2. 2

Hey James, I might be in the minority but that font colour scheme actually hurts my eyes in that I can't read it. In fact I have a similar but less pronounced issue on the IH colour scheme and mentioned this on Feedback channel, and some others had this issue.

      1. 2

Thanks very much for the feedback, that's interesting. I guess it's the dark background scheme and the high contrast. Maybe I might reduce the contrast a bit because on IH the contrast is somewhat less.

Thanks for the feedback!! I know, I'll try to come up with a different main colour for the logo in the next days!

Anyways I can't see the problem you've encountered with the mobile view, could you please check back again? (I'm thinking you may have landed on the page while I was doing some changes in the last minutes, but it's weird it happened. Let me know!)

That makes sense, gonna think about the red texts as well during the next redesign. Thanks for the feedback!

Wow, that's a lot of stuff! I'll go over some of them, but overall this will be really helpful for me in the future so thank you so much!

      • I'll definitely change the color scheme, and make sure that the buttons stand out. I also plan to remove also the redundant/useless elements across the website (incl. animations), most of which you have already pointed out
      • "Designed for founders": that part is specifically targeted to founders looking for a cofounder who feel that the whole process is "complicated, time-consuming and stressing". So its purpose is not specifically to go into details on what is it that we do, but I'll go over it again to see if I can make it more meaningful for a broader audience
      • I agree though that I can express better the advantages of remote and what "hard and complicated stuff" we do in a more effective way.
      • About the "Trials" and "Yup, we make it that easy" expanding section, I did it that way because I didn't want that part to be too long, but still wanted the interested user to expand it. I tried to make them look like links, but among all of those who visited it today you're the only one who actually clicked on them (congrats!) so I guess I'll probably give up on the "expanding section" idea :)

Look forward to know what you will think about my next redesign!
