First $1000 as an indie hacker

Emir Atli @emiratli248

Hello all,

I am Emir, a co-founder of HockeyStack Analytics. This is a small milestone, but it feels unreal for me as I have been working on different startups for the last 3 years. I have never been able to monetize my work, but now I can feel that people see the real value I want to deliver with the revenue and emails.

I posted this tweet recently, and I got so many DMs, comments, and likes from incredibly kind indie hackers.

Thank you all for your support!

How did you know that it “stuck” enough that it would make you $$$?

And compared to your past 3 years of “nothing”?

My past startups were B2C, and it was really hard to monetize them. I find it easier to deliver value with B2B startups.

Also, for the first time, I interviewed people in my network who use analytics often to understand their workflow and come up with a solution. It was a problem for me, but I wanted to be sure about the problem.

I read "The Mom Test" before starting HockeyStack, and it helped me a ton!

I recently grabbed a copy of The Mom Test. Looking forward to it!

I like how you mentioned that the problem is for you. That's important. It's hard to get excited about a viable business opportunity if the problem doesn't vibe with you as a person.

Congratulations! Looking forward to reading your walkthrough on how you started to now. I'm curious how you built it - No-code or code?

And looking forward to trying out HockeyStack myself - I just tried DashThis and it wasn't fun, but a great concept.

      Thank you so much!

      We built it with code.

Please let me know when you try it out. You can send me a DM on Twitter or email me at [email protected]. DashThis is a hassle as I heard from our agency customers. We offer unlimited domains and completely no-code tracking, which are the things that agencies love :)

        I definitely will!

anything that avoids the hair-pulling authorization nightmare is fine by me!

Congratulations! I'm curious -- what's next for you and your product? How do you plan to gain more and maintain existing users?

Thank you! This is the first thing I read this morning as I woke up 3 minutes ago :D

When we first launched HockeyStack, our goal was to earn some money to spend on tractific.com. But after a few months, we have realized that the demand for HockeyStack is far more than the demand for Tractific.

Since we didn't focus on HockeyStack, we also didn't focus on our offering on AppSumo. Right now, my first goal is to delete that deal, launch on another LTD platform, spend the money on the product, and focus on monthly revenue.

We continue adding new features every single week and have some "believer" customers who love us. I talk to them every day- we are almost like friends.

I will post another article on this whole process. Love keeping it transparent!
