Coincidence? No
okay so I was reading through some music news this morning and this one genuinely stopped me cold.
according to Deezer, AI generated songs accounted for more than 50% of all new music uploaded daily during June 2026.
more than half. for the first time in history artificial intelligence is producing more new music every single day than every human musician on earth combined.
let that actually sink in for a second.
just a few years ago generating a complete song with AI was considered a fun experiment. today anyone can describe a musical idea in a text prompt and get a finished track back in minutes. Suno, Udio, and others have lowered the barrier so completely that millions of new songs are now being generated every single month at a pace no human can match.
and wtf does that actually mean for everyone making music right now.
here's the uncomfortable truth nobody wants to say out loud.
if everyone can generate music in seconds then generating music is no longer the advantage. duh. the thing that used to make you special — being able to make a finished song at all — is now table stakes. the floor just got raised for everyone overnight.
so what actually matters? (oh ..for now.)
the internet is already flooding with AI tracks. most of them sound ... nAH.. competent. totally okay. and completely forgettable within 30 seconds. because fine and competent doesn't make anyone feel anything. it doesn't tell a story. it doesn't carry the weight of a real human experience behind it.
for independent artists this is actually a massive opportunity if you think about it right. you now have access to a production tool that would have cost thousands of dollars and months of studio time just five years ago. brainstorming ideas, building demos, exploring genres, generating instrumentals — all of it faster and cheaper than ever.
but the human judgment about which ideas are worth pursuing, which direction to take the song, what emotion it needs to carry — that's still entirely on you. and that's exactly what separates the stuff people remember from the stuff that disappears into the algorithm in 48 hours.
the music industry is entering a genuinely new era. the challenge is no longer producing songs. literally anyone can do that now. the challenge is creating music that people actually remember.
does the 50% number freak you out or do you think it actually creates more opportunity for serious creators who know what they're doing?
