So you built a pseudo StackOverflow competitor? What is the difference between skill validation here vs. Stack Overflow or similar products?

      Thanks for your comment!

There are a couple of key differences compared to Stack Overflow. Scoring in Creds won't be based on voting but a proprietary algorithm to weigh each individual credential. So, you can validate your skills with only a handful of Creds, when in Stack Overflow (or Indie Hackers, if you like) you have to be an active member for a long time to become relevant.

Also, I won't target developers as a core user group. They are well served thanks to Stack Overflow, Github and many more, and I'll focus on more underserved professionals :)

That sounds good. It would be good if you were very clear about serving that underrepresented group you wish to target.

You're correct that I could clearer about that in my landing page. Will clarify, thanks for your input!

Hi Aleksi - good page overall, I read over pupoeno's comments below as well, so don't really have anything super brand new but for me, the big thing that stuck out was that your brand is peer to peer and its a social network but the page felt a little bit too sterile and corporate. I think some simple pops of color will add a bit of personality to it! Congrats !

Thanks for your comments! That's a good point – while I want to keep it simple and clean (the use case is professional), you're correct that some additional personality would add a lot. For the next version :)

Happy to return the favour if you want to!

The page at first looks like a narrow centered page except the menu, Home/FAQ/Sign up are stick too much to the right.

Call to action buttons could be bigger, all upper case, etc.

The three cells for "SOCIAL NETWORK FOR ENDORSING EXPERTISE, NOT FLASHY LOGOS" are farther apart than "DEMONSTRATE YOUR TRACK RECORD OF DELIVERING RESULTS". I would stick with one or the other. The latter one feels a bit cramped and for example, in the last cell, "LEVERAGE THE POWER OF YOUR NETWORK", it feels off-centered.

From the content perspective, it seems what you are doing is like LinkedIn but only focused on the Recommendations part. But then you say "flashy logos" and makes me think of social proofs in landing pages. I found that a bit confusing.

I think overall, the landing page is good, but could use some dark background sections to separate one section from the next.

Thanks for your comments! All valid points indeed, let me continue iterating :)

One follow-up question: which device did you use when looking at the page, i.e. in which width does the menu bar go too much in right? I don't see the problem myself with my mac.

Happy to return the favour if you like!

I'm using Firefox on Windows on a 27" screen running at 2560x1440: https://i.imgur.com/llIn7od.png

My landing page is being rebuilt soon, so it'd be a waste to review it (I know it's terrible). I would appreciate support for the upcoming PH launch: https://www.producthunt.com/upcoming/bestie

Right, that surely doesn't look good. Thanks for mentioning, I'll fix it.

I'll definitely support you at the launch! All the best for that :)

            Thank you :)
