What is XAgo?
XAgo is a simple app that lets you keep track of how long ago you did something. You can check it out on https://xago.app.
It is a completely free app. As of right now, I'm not monetizing it in any way. However, in the short week that it's been published the app has gotten around 2k users with more than 300 users returning to the app daily.
The whole development process is documented here https://frangrgic.com/project/xago/
I had no prior experience with posting on Product Hunt, and I launched it with low expectations. If I got a few upvotes, I would have been happy. The post, however, gained quite a lot of traction and it ended the day in the top 10 products of the day. (https://www.producthunt.com/posts/xago).
I would love to hear your thoughts on how the app could be monetized and your ideas about improvement.
I downloaded it on my iphone and the on boarding has been friction-less, the app is easy to grasp and use. Great job according to me Fran
Thank you very much!
One day I’ll give you all my money to make an app for me. One day ...
I love it. Upvoted
Thank you! Looking forward to it :D
Cool idea! I love the design as well. Do you design it yourself?
Thank you! Yes, I did the whole app myself including design. :D
Cool! Is there any website you recommend to read about creating a good design? I'm trying to make a side project, but my design is not good.
Looks good.
Simple intuitive UI.
Upvoted it even tho it doesn't help with the ranking anymore :p
What I think would be cool is to actually reverse the order if you want to use it as a habit tracker, as in what I did the longest ago should be on top so that I will be nudged to do that thing again.
I think an idea to monetize this is to just have a premium subscription or one time purchase to add more things, lets see for free you can add 10 activities and if you want to add more you need to pay a small amount.
Not sure if that's in line with what you're thinking and if it's valuable enough but that's something for you to find out :_)
Thank you so much! Reversing the order is probably a "no brainer" for the next feature as it's really simple to implement. I've never implemented in-app purchases so that's probably going to be a fun weekend hackathon soon. :D
Haha "fun". It's a genuine pain but maybe if you're a masochist :p
I can recommend Revenuecat if you bash your head one too many times
What a great app! I really think you should also market this as a habit tracker since that's very popular now (18 100 searches on Google in the US only the last month) :)
Thank you!
I think you're right. Although, I also feel that there are so many of them these days. But let's see. I feel the app is still missing some features to be a "full-fledged habit tracker".
This looks really great.
The most obvious monetization strategy that comes to my mind is through some sort of affiliate program. For example, if someone hasn't been to the dentist in a while, perhaps you could display them a list of dentists near them (assuming they are paying you somehow). If they might need a refill on a certain product, then you could show them a list of products with an affiliate code.
Running your own advertising platform would be a lot of work, not only from a development standpoint, but it would probably be very tough to get individual businesses to get on board (esp. brick-and-mortar ones, I would think). If a company like Yelp has a program that you could built on top of, then that would probably be the easiest way. Listing products with affiliate links would probably be easier.
If you dislike advertising (as I do), then you could potentially add some sort of limit to the app (e.g. free users can only keep track of 10 things) and charge for a premium version, I suppose. You could add more bells and whistles like allowing custom images for tasks instead of being limited to the default colors/icons.
Thank you for the awesome suggestions! I really don't like advertising, but affiliate marketing sounds interesting. To be honest, I'll probably add some additional features as in-app purchases. I really don't want users to feel tracked about things that they do daily/weekly/monthly.
LOVE this idea. Downloading now!
Thanks! It was something I wanted to do for a long time but never got around to doing it till now.
This is a very cool concept! Great job!
Thank you! Glad you like it
