First product launch --> $500 MRR in 27 days

Hey all! I love the Indie Hackers community its so great to see a friendly dev environment where we share tips and tricks. I am new developer, self taught since about 2017. Never created a product before and it was all for fun. Recently launched StealthGPT, an anti-detection AI service and we are having incredible growth, over 1k users and $500 in MMR that is rapidly accelerating.

Here's the way I tried to build my first viral product being a relatively unknown and unproven dev. Jump into hot tech: AI (Check), build a product that people need (I saw AI detectors going viral back in January), and target the 'social media' audience. My product really appeals to young people and because of that I theorized that we would have an insane ROI on word of mouth marketing. Our product is the type you tell your friends about to be the cool person.

If you're relatively unknown with a small profile like me publicly and privately, I recommend you seek out some kind of viral product. Sometimes we focus so much on the product itself that we forget that some of the best products go undiscovered out there. So make great products but focus on discoverability and bootstrapping. We barely spend and money on marketing because we don't have to.

I hope this helps and feel free to reach out to me for more info! I love talking and helping people succeed. Cheers to all the builders!

It's inspiring to see someone with a small profile and no previous product experience create something that is gaining traction so quickly. Your advice on seeking out viral products and focusing on discoverability is really helpful for those of us who are just starting out. It's true that sometimes the best products go undiscovered because they're not marketed well. Your experience with word of mouth marketing is a great example of how a product can gain momentum without spending a lot of money on advertising. Thank you for sharing your story and advice, and I wish you continued success with StealthGPT.

Thank you Kyle, I loved what I saw on this platform this week. I felt the need to give a little back for everything I have learned by lurking. I do hope this helps others :)

Congratulations on your successful first product launch! Your journey is truly inspiring, and it's fantastic to see how you've leveraged your passion for development to create something meaningful and needed. Your focus on discoverability and bootstrapping is a valuable lesson for all indie hackers out there. Keep up the great work, and thank you for sharing your insights with the community. Wishing you continued success! 🎉

Can you share more about the strategies you used to bootstrap your marketing and increase word-of-mouth for StealthGPT? Any specific tactics that worked well for targeting the 'social media' audience?

Dfrankle by targeting the 'social media' audience I'm referencing young people who are likely to make UCG (user generated content) about their daily lives. I don't have a lot of money or resources so had to find a product that basically would get talked about by young people very easily. I hope that gives some insight but as always, psychology and understanding your demo is a key to succeeding with them. Young people are far more accessible than old individuals who aren't as online, don't consume as much content. Feel free to dm more to have these kinds of discussions :)

Absolutely, focusing on discoverability and targeting the right audience can make a huge difference.

This is why I spend about 20mins to an hour on targeted ads. I spend very little but I try to make a dollar go a long way.

That is great Jozef. Hope it motivates you more to build many more products !
